NATO’s Role In The Military Encirclement Of Iran

11-02-2010 17:52 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Globalisation | World

US military bases in the Middle East and Central Asia
The chain is being tightened around Iran from every direction and NATO is supplying several of the key links.

It is too early to tell whether the false accusations levered against Iran are a pretext for NATO’s further deployment or whether its deployment constitutes the premise for a new war.

Yemen and The Militarization of Strategic Waterways

10-02-2010 16:21 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Globalisation | World

The islands of Socotra are at the crossroads of the strategic naval waterways of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden (See map below). It is of crucial importance to the US military.

Descent Into Barbarism: The US and NATO Wage War on the World

09-02-2010 19:37 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Globalisation | World

In our time, war, it seems, has already begun. The US oligarchy and its NATO allies are waging a veritable war on the world: killing, disappearing and incarcerating millions of civilians in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan – a war that is expanding into Yemen, Somalia and the rest of the Horn of Africa, with the militarisation of sea lanes and oceans and the setting up of “forward projecting” military and missile bases in every continent.

On top of ordinary poverty and misery, the world is truly seeing another historic descent into barbarism. Given this war-mongering dynamic, the growing US antagonism with Iran, Russia and China is far from an idle threat. It is the logical next step for a deeply illogical economic system.

Good Morning America: US Public Wakes up to the Destructive Nature of Capitalism

02-02-2010 23:30 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Globalisation | World

As 20 million Americans struggle with unemployment and 40 million depend on food stamps, President Obama’s exhortation for “America to make painful choices” and to “live within its means”, must sound rather sickening. The president’s budget announcement calls for “austerity” in “discretionary spending” such as education and healthcare, but this frugality is not extended to the American military.

US military's Haiti "relief" ops: A Rehearsal For Troop Deployment in L. America

31-01-2010 21:57 | Anti-militarism | Globalisation | Repression | World

USSOUTHCOM area of responsibility
The American commandeering of the airport at Port au Prince and de facto seizure of sovereignty over Haiti looked exactly like an invasion and occupation – except that Haiti had already been invaded in 2004 by the U.S., which then turned over occupational duties to its servants in the United Nations. To speak of a U.S. “invasion” of Haiti is getting a little bit redundant. The Americans never left, and they and their flunkies walk all over Haiti like an old rug.

30-01-2010 21:57 | Globalisation | Migration | World

Do You remember the funny stories about Polish people sending money to poland in simple letters by ordinary post? Of course, large part of it went "gone". Why many people preferred post to banks? Let us look at the bank fees. 40 quid for a money transfer? Why not?

UnaBomber on Technology vs. Freedom

unabomber was correct on tech vs freedom
Whatever may be said about the 'rights and wrongs' about Ted Kaczynski's approach to 'the revolution', none can surely denie his precise analysis,( admittedly not as in depth as could be), of technology versus our freedom?

The use of inverted comma's to describe 'clash' is useful to those of us that know the police often start or incite these 'clashes' to begin with.
In Phoenix Police sprayed kids as they 'clashed' with anarchists.
