Why is President Obama sending 12,000 U.S. troops to Libya?

15-01-2012 21:27 | Anti-militarism | Globalisation | Terror War | World

It is with great disappointment that I receive the news from foreign media publications and Libyan sources that our President now has 12,000 U.S. troops stationed in Malta and they are about to make their descent into Libya.

Occupy the Machine- Together we can halt the destruction of our only home

27-11-2011 07:08 | Occupy Everywhere | Climate Chaos | Globalisation | Social Struggles | World

Our planet is dying, and there is no mistaking the cause... Industrial civilization must be confronted as the machine of death that it truly is. The Occupy Movement has the makings of a revolutionary struggle, but it will only succeed if we can properly align our actions with an honest assessment of the predicament we face.

Occupy The Library

16-11-2011 22:32 | Culture | Globalisation | World

America’s majority who supported the Occupy Wall Street movement (OWS), within the 99% of all Americans, are being smeared by agent propagandists within the punditry of mainstream media (MSM). For example, Michael Gerson’s black demagoguery, of the closet-right-wing Washington Post, is a good example. In one of his recent columns he declared the OWS movement seems little more than a “…confused set of grievances…” and paints the movement to have little ideological coherence save Marxist socialism and anarchy. Equally he attempts to blame the Democratic Party (that he claims is their “desperate” political calculation) for this phenomenon of the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement.

Seven Billion ... And Rising

08-11-2011 13:18 | Analysis | Ecology | Globalisation | World

The world’s population surpassed 7 billion on October 31. But except for perhaps the anti-family planning lobby, this was a milestone that few were in a mood to celebrate.

The Wind in the Trees

06-11-2011 16:25 | Occupy Everywhere | Anti-militarism | Globalisation | Social Struggles | World

This is a message to the revolutionaries on Tahrir Square from a rainbow warrior in Europe. You might doubt whether there is something useful to say from that position, but so did I before I found myself in the middle of the struggle for the freedom of our hearts and minds. You might also question whether there is anything worth to be squeezed through the prisoner dilemma that is between all of us, but so did we before we took up our last battle against the regimes we had found in our lives. Please take the time to listen to a few words from the deep woods – because as the old poem goes, after the oppressors have spoken the oppressed are going to speak.

Sole military Super-Bloc: NATO Issues Daily Reprieves To The World

05-11-2011 00:34 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Globalisation | Sheffield | World

A Stop NATO feature in August provided an, admittedly incomplete, list of nations that NATO, actuated by its first Strategic Concept for the 21st century adopted at the bloc’s summit in Lisbon last November and its initial implementation in Libya this year, could attack or otherwise intervene in next: Algeria, Belarus, Bolivia, Central African Republic, Chad, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cyprus, Ecuador, Eritrea, Iran, Lebanon, Madagascar, Mali, Moldova-Transdniester, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Niger, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Palestine, Somalia, the South Caucasus (Abkhazia, Nagorno-Karabakh, South Ossetia), Sudan-South Sudan, Suriname, Syria, Uganda, Venezuela, Western Sahara, Yemen and Zimbabwe.

The time is ripe and in fact long overdue for issuing a call for an international anti-NATO initiative addressed to individuals, organizations, political parties and governments to convene an extraordinary session of the United Nations General Assembly to demand the disbanding of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization as a – as the gravest – threat to world peace.

Focussing on Canada's Tar Sands this week, we examine the murky reality of 'free trade', and interference by the Canadian Government in the European Climate Change legislation. Who makes and enforces these agreements, and who benefits? We look at how the SPP is being revamped for re-introduction after concerted efforts to kill it by citizens' action groups.

UG#572 - Monopoly and Money (Contradictions of Capitalism)

21-10-2011 14:42 | Globalisation | Policing | Social Struggles | Sheffield | World

Audio
If competition is such a good thing, why is it not tolerated in areas of government or law? Or in the money system, which functions as a highly profitable private business? And what about cartel agreements which align the interests of multi-national corporations firmly against the interests of consumers? Are corporations really competing to bring better products to market more cheaply, or are they competing for control of government to grant them privileges?

International Reclaim the Fields camp joins Rosia Montana against the new Romani

26-09-2011 18:39 | Ecology | Globalisation | Social Struggles | World

On the 24 September at 15:00 o'clock, the international participants of the Reclaim the Fields camp, together with the local association Alburnus Maior, from Rosia Montana, Romania, held a lively street demonstration in the village's Old Square. Local and international people are opposing plans to open Europe's largest open cast gold mine and a proposed new law on expropriation currently being discussed in the Romanian parliament. The law would enable private mining companies, instead of the Romanian state and judicial system, to carry out forced expropriation of residents, in a clear violation of human rights.

The End of Traditional Antisystemic Movements and the Need for A New Type of AM

World Week for the Abolition of Meat: 23-30 Sept 2011

18-09-2011 17:54 | Animal Liberation | Culture | Globalisation | World

Meat Abolition
The next WWAM will take place, as planned, between 23 September and 30 September 2011.

The aim is to promote again and again the idea that the production and consumption of animal flesh must be abolished.

The idea is to claim loud and clear that it is not only the duty of each individual to stop supporting the murderous exploitation required by the consumption of animal flesh and "by-products", but that it is also, therefore, the duty of societies as a whole to declare themselves
for the banning of farming, fishing and hunting.

The post-9/11 decade of lies

08-09-2011 19:05 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Globalisation | Sheffield | World

1st Sgt with Baker Company stationed in Iraq, September 2003
It has been and will be the same since the day it happened. The same exhausting exercise, whether one, five years, ten or fifty years since 9/11. Another orchestrated orgy of mass propaganda-stoked ignorance and “war on terrorism” hysteria.

The propaganda myth of 9/11, imbedded inextricably into the fibers of society and culture, and into the brain cells of naïve, willfully uninformed people, is back for another sickening “commemoration”.

Who chooses to “commemorate” the lie of 9/11? Undoubtedly, the high officials and elites who planned the event, who successfully achieved everything they wanted---unending war for oil, naked fascism and militarism, and economic conquest---from this ultimate false flag operation. The atrocity of 9/11, the desperate act of an empire facing extinction, was not an “intelligence failure”, but the greatest intelligence success and criminal operation in history.
