AP threatened by Pentagon over accurate reporting of Iraq
11-02-2009 00:29
"Now is the time to resist the propaganda the Pentagon produces and live up to our obligation to question authority and thereby help protect our democracy." AP CEO Tom Curley, speaking at University of Kansas. Is this supposed to be an anti-terrorism strategy?

How do we deal with terrorism guys? I know, let’s have an ad campaign in Pakistan highlighting successful British Pakistanis. That will really get the Taliban thinking twice! I’m assuming that’s how the conversation before they launched this:Supporters rally for soldier in brig who refused to go to Iraq

Obama the imperialist
08-02-2009 17:07
The first Democratic president in the modern era to be elected on an anti-war ticket is also, to the relief of neocons and the liberal belligerati, a hawk. Committed to escalation in Afghanistan, his foreign policy selections also indicate bellicosity towards Sudan and Iran. During his first week in office he sanctioned two missile attacks in Pakistan, killing 22 people, including women and children. And his stance on Gaza is remarkably close to that of the outgoing administration. The question now is how Obama will convince his supporters to back that stance. Bush could rely on a core constituency whose commitment to peace and human rights is, at the very least, questionable. Obama has no such luxury. In making his case, he will need the support of those "liberal hawks" who gave Bush such vocal support. The War on Terror is a Hoax

According to US government propaganda, terrorist cells are spread throughout America, making it necessary for the government to spy on all Americans and violate most other constitutional protections. Among President Bush’s last words as he left office was the warning that America would soon be struck again by Muslim terrorists.Obama meets and praises laughing war criminal Blair

Yet another farce that shows what kind of change Obama is really about. Excerpts from several websites :But at what cost?

I agree that the Iraqi elections at first sight seem like a success. And the news so far is very good. All the Islamic parties lost ground, especially that associated with the so-called ‘Shia firebrand’, Moqtada al-Sadr, whose share of the vote went down from 11% to 3%. The principal Sunni Islamic party, the Islamic Party of Iraq, was wiped out. Instead, a new generation of Iraqi politicians is coming forward. Many of them are young and secular. They have lived always in Iraq, not in exile; they are Iraqis with local roots first and foremost - they are not pan-Arabs or pan-Islamists. Nor do they have connections to the US. I hate to rain on the parade but that doesn't yet negate the ongoing cost of this huge blunder.Detailed overview of the direct actions at Shannon against the Iraq and Afghan w

In every country after February 15th 2003 the anti-war movement was faced with the question of what to do next. In Ireland almost all of the direct action protests were targeted on Shannon airport. More than half dozen successful actions took place, ranging from a large scale breach of the fence in October, to physical attacks on planes as the build up to war escalated. In response to these actions three out of the four airlines using the airport for troop transportation pulled out just before the start of the Iraq war. read moreKilling More Of Them - reporting war crimes to the Police

Deborah Orr: A Tribute to the Propaganda Box
29-01-2009 23:14
Is there anyone left out there who hasn't been sucked into TV Land – British (or American) style – who can still attest to life devoid of the culturally (politically) requisite 3.75 hours of daily TV watching, or 26.25 hours per week? It's worth noting that Deborah Orr tells us within her below article, published in today's Independent newspaper, that these figures only include broadcast television, not watching DVDs, films in cinemas, YouTube or other internet-broadcast content.Full article | 2 additions | 4 comments
