19-08-2007 13:29
Most people persist in believing that the Bush Administration has "mishandled" or "bungled" the war in Iraq, when in fact they have achieved almost all of their goals. In a move with ominous implications, the Bush administration, according to articles in yesterday’s New York Times and Washington Post, has resolved to brand the entire Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a “specially designated global terrorist” organization. These days the presidential candidates for the Democratic Party are sounding more like replacement candidates for Bush; on the issue of ending the Iraq War. All the candidates, with the exception of Representative Dennis Kucinich and Governor Bill Richardson, are making open-ended commitments to keep American forces in Iraq and the Middle East region for years.West Urged to Abandon Maliki

In truth, the only place the people of Vietnam ever constituted a threat to the United States was within the toxic mindscapes of paranoid cold warriors. This death-enamored realm -- where the most psychotic is king -- is the place (and only place) where Iraq's weapons of mass destruction existed, and is where, at present, Iran's threat to the United States looms.Escalation by the Numbers: What "Progress" in Iraq Really Means

Of course the neocons want “military action against Iran” and if and when this occurs there will be nothing “limited” about it, although such moderation—or what passes for moderation in Bushzarro world—is a key selling point, sort of like a spanking new paint job on a rusted used car.The Pentagon’s latest Big Lie: Preserving the myth of a "war on terror"

OK, I don't normally read the washington post, but stumbled upon this article today. Seems senior US intelligence officials have accepted that the British army has been defeated in Basra. It cannot create social order, security or reconstruction.
