Film: The tenth castor transport to Gorleben

03-10-2007 19:54 | Culture | Ecology | World

In Germany politicians decided 30 years ago that a salt deposit near the village of Gorleben in the north of the country should be the permanent repository, and a prefabricated storage hall next door to it the "interim storage". Scientists almost from the outset ruled the salt dome unsafe.

Playing with Fire: The Story of Daniel McGowan, "eco-terrorism" and the Green Sc

22-09-2007 17:12 | Animal Liberation | Ecology | Terror War | World

The Indypendent Cover
Growing up in New York City, Daniel McGowan saw first-hand how pollution fogged the air and fouled the beaches in some of the city’s poorest communities, setting him on a lifelong path of environmental and social justice. But how he ended up drenched in gasoline and setting fire to Oregon’s Jefferson Poplar Farms in 2001 and was later targeted as a “domestic terrorist” is the story of someone who cared too much and didn’t know what else to do.

No War, No Warming, Rise Up!

20-09-2007 10:13 | Anti-militarism | Climate Chaos | Ecology | World

For months a movement has been developing that consciously and intentionally links the related issues of the war in Iraq/oil wars and the heating up of the earth that is disrupting the world’s climate. On Monday morning, October 22, in Washington , DC on Capitol Hill and elsewhere around the country, that movement will become visible as large numbers of people engage in nonviolent direct action to disrupt business as usual. We will be calling for an end to this criminal war and strong action to slow, stop and reverse global warming (  http://www.nowarnowarming.org/ ).

Fires burn During APEC Summit 2007.

13-09-2007 13:47 | Ecology | Globalisation | Repression | London | World

The APEC summit achieves nothing for Indigenous Australia. Millions of dollars have been spent for World leaders to purchase uranium in style, at precisely the same time that Australian Army and Police are sent to invade and occupy indigenous communities in the outback. Outback Communities are forced to sign mining leases under duress from a tyrannical Government refusing to legislate against Genocide, in direct violation of The United Nations convention on Genocide.
