The Guarani Mbyá People are living in the south east of Brazil. In the last 30 years the Brazilian Government has built 2 Nuclear Power Plants (Angra 1 and 2) on their traditional territory south of Rio de Janeiro. Now the Government Lula da Silva is going to complete another Nuclear Power Plant (Angra 3) at the same place. The Brazilian Government also is going to open up new uranium mines in Brazil. There is today one mine in Bahia. But soon – if there is no international movement against it – there will be a second terrible uranium mine in the State of Ceará. And further mines are possible in the Amazon. It needs an international movement to stop these mining projects.
We have made a documentary (DVD /video/ 20 min.) about the Guarani-Mbyá village Sapukai which is situated next to the already existing dangerous two Brazilian Nuclear Power Plants, Angra 1 and Angra 2. In the centre of our film is the strong speech of the 94 years old Guarani-Mbyá-Chief Vera Mirim against nuclear energy.
We want to publicate this film and want to help that the Nuclear Power Plant Angra 3 will not be built and that the Brazilian Government stops its Nuclear Energy Plans and its Uranium Mining projects in the Northeast and North of Brazil. So you can order it.
With your support we want to produce further Films about indigneous peoples, traditional populations and the nuclear industy, uranium mining.
