Today galician scientist from the University of A Coruña at Galiza where the Prestige Oil tanker sunk, has oficially presented a report demonstrating how both spanish and galician authorities was hiden to the people the real presence of Polycyclical Aromatic Hydrocarbons wich are well known carcinogenic compunds of the fuel-oil wich the Prestige was carrying.

The Kulini Kulini ‘Are you listening?’ camp was called by the Kungka Tjuta after they attended the nuclear free gathering in Silverton earlier this year. After they have travelled far and wide in their campaign against the proposed nuclear waste dump it was the first time that they would
play host to so many people on their country. The Kungkas extended the invitation for people to come Wangka irati, wangka Maralinga – talk about the poison, talk about Maralinga.

The final discussions of the Climate Change Social Forum, organized by one Russian and one American NGO, came out strongly in support of Russia’s ratification of the Kyoto Protocol. Attempts by the World Conference on Climate Change (WCCC) Chairman Yuri Izrael to derail the process failed and prompted an impressive speech by one of the participants on how Russia would benefit from the Kyoto Protocol. Some of the quotes by Izrael were: “Voting is for the miserable.” “Presidents change but the truth prevails.” (he was in the cabinet under the times of the Soviet Union) and “Let’s not waste time talking about the Kyoto Protocol, when it will never come into effect anyways.”

To the great surprise of participants of the World Climate Change Conference, Chairman Yuri Izrael announced a press conference half way through the conference on Wednesday night. Usually, press conferences are not held until the end of the conference reflecting the outcomes and events.

If the public really wants the supposed benefits offered in the Corporate Social Responsibility agenda, in the sense of being prepared to pay for them, then the market will, before too long, provide.

The resistance to the eviction of the village of Artozki has reached day 11. Here is a summary of the last few days and a call for action and support for the people who are holding out in the village and giving it life - including a thriving new arts space - despite constant police harrassment.

As part of the national day of action against Bayer Cropscience tommorrow (Thursday 25th Sept), an electronic blockade has been called.
