Thessaloniki Prisoner Solidarity - Introduction

More than five months after the EU summit in Thessaloniki, 7 people incarcerated within the Greek prison system - Simon Chapman (English), Fernando Perez Gorraiz (Spanish), Carlos Martin Martinez (Spanish), Souleiman "Kastro" Dakduk (Syrian), Spyros Tsitsas (Greek) and two Greek juveniles - have finally been released pending trial. Despite overwhelming evidence that they have been framed and despite solidarity protests around the world, this only occurred after approximately 2 months of hunger strikes by 5 of the prisoners.

There is a demo currently in athens just arrived outside the hospital, there are thousands of riot police outside. At the time there are 3 hunger strikers at the hospital the other two will be transferred any time. The demonstrators leave the hospital to avoid any delay in the transfer of the other two. They saw ambulances it could be the other two. The cops forbid cars entering the road from the prison to the hospital, it's almost sure they are being transferred now.

The Thessaloniki 7 were freed on bail today (26.11) the Council of Deliquencies of Thessaloniki ruled that the Thessaloniki 7 are to be set free! Our Solidarity with the Seven has worked: Our passion for freedom was stronger than their prisons! We now demand all of the charges to be dropped. Justice for the Saloniki 7!
