There will be a planning day in Central Birmingham from 10 till 4 on Saturday April 30th for the mobilisation against the DSEI arms fair in September. This will hopefully be a chance for loads of people from across 'the Midlands' and beyond to come together and plan a summer of actions against the war machine culminating in DSEI in September.

Kurdish young activist in imminent danger of execution by Iran-Islamic regime

According to various reports Shirkou Moarefi, an Iranian-Kurd political prisoner, will be executed on May 1.
The Human Rights Activists News Agency reports that a local Kurdish newspaper in Iraq is citing reliable sources as it reports that Shirkou Moarefi is set to be executed on May 1, International Workers Day.

Israeli Propaganda Week - Thursday March 24th

This week, the Israeli government is sending 25 Israeli students to Birmingham University campus to spread pro-Israel propaganda. This initiative, called " Israel Awareness Week" is being deliberately timed during "Israeli Apartheid Week"*, to argue the case for Israel.
Between Tuesday and Thursday this week there will be a marquee on campus outside the main library promoting Israeli culture and portraying Israel as a peace-loving country.
The Israeli delegation will arrive on campus on Thursday and will be leafleting outside the library.

Syrian protest movement , At least four dead in fresh Syria violence

The Syrian protest movement was launched on 15 March 2011 via a Facebook group entitled "the Syrian revolution against Bashar al-Assad in 2011" which demanded an end to corruption, humiliation, and poverty.
Residents say the victims were shot dead in an attack on the city’s Omari mosque in the early hours of the morning, where protesters had gathered.

Representatives of the company Veolia have withdrawn from a business presentation at Birmingham Council House on Monday 21st March 2011 following pressure from the Palestine Solidarity Campaign. Veolia has been the subject of an international campaign due to its involvement in illegal infrastructure projects in the occupied Palestinian territories. Keith Riley, Managing Director of Technical Services for Veolia had been expected to address a Green Monday event of Corporate Climate Change Leaders.
