Free Gaza Boats Break Siege of Gaza; International Support Crucial to Success

Two small boats carrying 42 human rights activists broke the siege of Gaza. They sailed from Cyprus in defiance of Israeli threats to intercept the boats to enforce its blockade of Gaza. The arriving boats were greeted by thousands of jubilant Gazans and former Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh. Intense international support was crucial in persuading Israel to allow the boats through.

Amadeu Casellas has been imprisoned since 1986 for taking part in armed robberies of banks in which no person was shot or physically injured. Previous to that he had been imprisoned during the dictatorship. In total almost 30 years of his life have been spent in jail. It was in jail that he contracted HIV in 2000. It is in jail that he has consistenly revindicated his anarchist philosophy known to many since the group he formed part of in 1973 distributed the money they robbed amongst tenants in danger of eviction.

His case as a political prisoner is clear & the contrasts between his hungerstrike against unconstitutionally continued detention & those of more "political" prisoners in the recent history of the Spanish state is stark.

To achieve this, requires a capable leadership dedicated to the future of its nation and its people, as well as support from the international community. Armenians are seeking such leadership.

Their homeland was used for testing Pakistan's so-called Islamic Bomb in May 1998. Their persecution remains unmitigated both in Iran and Pakistan. He has paid for 22 years for struggling against the state, for bank expropriations carried out in the 70s and 80s to help finance the workers’ struggles of that time.

Amadeu Casellas participated in the recent European prisoner hungerstrike that saw 500 German prisoners refusing to eat in protest against their conditions and is now continuing the hungerstrike until death or freedom. Many anarchists in the prisons joined the common hungerstrike in total defiance of confinement itself and actions in solidarity occured 'outside', including in Canada, the burning of a police truck outside a courthouse.

SHAC-UK Prisoner Dan Amos - August Update

Dan has had the news that hopefully in 5 weeks he will be moved to HMP Winchester for the start of the trial (which is not essential that he goes to). He will then stay at HMP Winchester for the remainder of his prison sentence, which is brilliant considering HMP Exeter is at least 150 miles from any of his friends and family.
