Senior Italian riot police to be tried over Genoa attack

Twenty-eight Italian police, including some of Italy's most senior riot and anti-terrorist officers, are to be tried for their role in an assault on a school in Genoa during the G8 summit in July 2001. Dozens of anti-globalisation activists sleeping in the school were injured in the raid.

Two hundred Egyptian activists and fifty from Europe were prevented
from reaching Egyptian Rafah by security forces at Bahlouza, the
entry to North Sinai yesterday. The group was accompanying hundreds
of tons of relief supplies for the people of Rafah collected by the
Egyptian Popular committee in support of the Palestinian Intifada.
While the food and blankets were allowed to reach the border at
Rafah, the solidarity demonstration planed for Rafah was held in the
middle of the desert underneath the welcome arch of North Sinai

5 Canadian Muslims Detained Without Trial for last 4 years

In Canada, five Muslim men remain detained without charge or bail on secret evidence neither they nor their lawyers are allowed to see. They have been detained under Security Certificates, signed by two federal ministers, at the request of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS). They have been behind bars for periods ranging from eighteen months to over four years, denied a fair trial, and are at risk of deportation to torture and death. The Security Certificate process was recently denounced in a letter to Anne McLellan from over sixty legal experts and law unions.
