Close Counter Terror World!

In a few days time, Olympia plays host the Counter Terror World, an exhibition at which companies and countries from around the world will share with each other lessons learned in the war on terror, a war on their own populations. Israel will be a prominent attendee, eager - no doubt - to share the lessons they've learned from the recent campaign in Lebanon and the ongoing repression in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Help stop biometric controls in workplace for migrant cleaners

ISS is the company that has been in the news this week for doing the nasty on the cleaners in the City of London. Now they are at it in the London Underground. Cleaners in the depots, where they clean the carriages, must now clock in and out using biometric machines that measure their unique fingers' proportions. All the cleaners are migrants, who will be the first target of biometric IDs and the like. They want to fight this but need help.

Cancerous computers cause concern

Following the clearing in 2004 of IBM in a lawsuit alleging they knew about carcinogens found in their computer chip factories, a new scientific study has been brought out confirming that workers in computer facilities have a high risk of developing cancer.

World’s largest weapons inspection as Blair pushes for new N-Bomb

at Aldermaston in Berkshire. They are converging in
large groups from all directions - by bus, train,
bicycle and on foot - determined to carry out the
world’s largest ever inspection of a nuclear weapons
factory. A big police presence of several hundred
officers is protecting the site.

SOCPA ban on cycle sound systems.

While cycling up Whitehall last night with Critical Mass, a cycle cop pulled up alongside and said I wasn't allowed to play my sound system in Whitehall. I asked if he was going to arrest me and he said no but I would be liable to arrest if I did it again.

More nuclear waste reached Gorleben amid protests

After a rail and truck run of 58 hours through France and Germany another load of returning German nuclear waste has reached a storage hall in the northern village of Gorleben. The tenth consignment was protested and delayed many times in both countries by anti-nuclear activists and guarded by 16,000 German police with horses, dogs, helicopters and water cannon.
