New Ecovillage, food forest, Gloucestershire
DeneForester , 13-03-2011 - 15:35
A new eco-village will soon be started, this year, near Gloucestershire. The group plans to establish a network of productive community gardens, food forests, log cabins, eco-buildings and occupied spaces in which people can enjoy the food and relax after a day of gardening, or swimming in the river. The group remains to be named, and is rather elusive, only an email address and an invitation to a face-to-face meeting in gloucester or cheltenham, to be arranged in the near future has been given. The group is calling for interested parties to contact them.

NISA says the plant has been shut down and no release of radiation has been detected. Japanese authorities have also reported a fire at the Onagawa nuclear power plant, which has been extinguished. Point of no return: U.S. and NATO prepare for war with Libya
Rick Rozoff , 08-03-2011 - 23:10
March 7 was a pivotal moment in plans by Western powers to launch military operations against Libya. After meeting with Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard in Washington, President Barack Obama stated "we've got NATO, as we speak, consulting in Brussels around a wide range of potential options, including potential military options, in response to the violence that continues to take place inside of Libya."
Britain and France, in close consultation with the U.S. and Germany (collectively the NATO Quad), are jointly writing a draft resolution for a no-fly zone over Libya to be presented to the Security Council. If the resolution is supported by nine or more of the fifteen nations on the Security Council and if permanent members China and Russia don't veto it, the stage will be set for a series of further military actions by the U.S. and NATO against Libya, which will be presented by the West as UN-sanctioned, in a manner alarmingly evocative of the process used to prepare the attack on Iraq in 2003.

Whilst most people live their arduous days far away from intellectual discourse and analysis, the corporate world is growing in power. The Edward Bernay days of Public Relations are long gone; we have been left behind "at the dawn of a new millennium”… which is a quote, from the movie Bullworth.

Libya evacuations: Africans ‘left out’
Dario Malewa , 03-03-2011 - 12:28
Africans ‘left out’ in Libya evacuations ....... In the rush to rescue foreigners from Libya, thousands of migrant Africans are being left behind, holed up at home terrified as insurgents mistake them for mercenaries fighting for Muammar Gaddafi’s regime. Rumours that Gaddafi has hired fighters from south of the Sahara to quash a popular revolt against him have made hordes of Africans targets of popular anger, many from poor countries unable to organise their evacuation.

Standing on the shoulders of Giants or Titans?
AJC , 26-02-2011 - 16:16
Has globalisation lead to a changing of the rules? We see Multi-National Corporations who are no longer aligned to any particular nation-state, who hold entire countries ransom and even bankcrupt others. With governments trying desparately to reign in their public deficit through tought austerity measures, we see a retreat of power at the local level. National boundaries in the financial world are inreasingly blurred and they never existed in the virtual one. Do we need to redefine the nature of relationships, interactions and networks that we find ourselves in? Is it truly time for a new world order?

Libya: Is US pushing for civil war to justify a US-NATO military intervention?
Darius Mahdi Nazemroaya , 25-02-2011 - 19:58
One should be opposed to dictatorship, but one should not forget the issue of foreign domination.
Is “manufactured destruction” or “creative destruction” at work?
Is Tripoli being set up for a civil war to justify U.S. and NATO military intervention in oil-rich Libya?
If Qaddafi is not ousted, are the talks about sanctions a prelude to an Iraq-like intervention?
