22-09-2009 10:02 | Climate Chaos | Energy Crisis | Workers' Movements | South Coast | World

Moving a blade around the Blade Park inside the factory
Activists outside the Vestas factory on the St Cross Business Park, Dodnor Lane, Newport, Isle of Wight have been tipped off that Tuesday at 12 noon a 'Blade Runner' barge is coming down the river Medina to the Vestas factory from Southampton to pick up some of the remaining blades still inside the factory. Those present expect a big police presence along with big support from other supporters and activists. They claim they are prepared to do anything and everything to stop Vestas from shipping these blades or from getting anything into the factory if that’s their plan.

The fires are still burning!

Middle Class Concentration Climate Camp: Some thoughts

01-09-2009 12:39 | Climate Chaos | Social Struggles | Workers' Movements | World

Not only is it made up of the funny-sounding 'normal' people having a great time together but you get the sense that these people are also a bit more (funny sounding again) 'real' and unselfconscious than the people I found at Climate Camp.

Good news 1: Anselme Noumbiwa back in Tees Valley
"Anselme was released from Brook House IRC at 16:00 yesterday and is back home, exhausted but otherwise in good spirits. Speaking from home this morning he sends his heartfelt thanks to all who have been supporting him over the last week. For the time being he is safe but he is not forgetting those Cameroonians still in detention and facing removal by charter flight. He will be with others trying to organize a demonstration against the charter flight to be held outside Home Office Reporting Centre Dallas Court Manchester this Friday coming."

29-08-2009 21:00 | Social Struggles | Workers' Movements | World

With the increasing vilification of those claiming benefits this article investigates claims that the insurance industry and New Labour at the head of the table of a carbuncle of rightwing advocates of welfare reform proactively sought to dismember the allowances to incapacity & disabled claimants.
