Good news 1: Anselme Noumbiwa back in Tees Valley
"Anselme was released from Brook House IRC at 16:00 yesterday and is back home, exhausted but otherwise in good spirits. Speaking from home this morning he sends his heartfelt thanks to all who have been supporting him over the last week. For the time being he is safe but he is not forgetting those Cameroonians still in detention and facing removal by charter flight. He will be with others trying to organize a demonstration against the charter flight to be held outside Home Office Reporting Centre Dallas Court Manchester this Friday coming."

Cameroon: "Inhuman" conditions, denial of justice for detainees
- In a prison in northern Cameroon an average of five prisoners die per month due to lack of medical attention. That is one of the conclusions of a government human rights commission, which says rights violations in prisons persist in the face of authorities' "indifference". Prison conditions are "draconian, inhuman and degrading", according to a report released 12 August by the national commission on human rights and freedoms (CNDHL), which condemns both the physical conditions and the slowness of the judicial system.

Bad news: Iloba Family  have left the UK
Asylum family's time runs out
Iloba family at the centre of a massive campaign to save them from deportation have been put on a plane to Nigeria. Campaigners had believed the teenagers and mum Betty had gained a further stay of execution after a Catholic nun staged a doorstep demo outside the Oldham offices of immigration minister Phil Woolas on Wednesday 26th August. But officials ruled yesterday (August 27th) there was no compelling new evidence. The family were put on a 10:20pm flight from Heathrow to Lagos last Thursday. Source Manchester Evening News

Ministers under fire for locking up immigrant children
* Policy questions after figures say 470 minors detained
* Post-traumatic stress common in those released
Ministers were facing accusations today that hundreds of children are being held unnecessarily in immigration detention centres as official figures revealed, for the first time, that 470 minors were being detained with their families.

'I'm scared, Daddy - what are those policemen doing?'
Ibrahim Ssentongo, four, is watching cartoons in the living room of his house in East Ham, London. It has been seven months since he was locked up in Yarl's Wood detention centre, in Bedfordshire. But despite the best attempt of his parents to ease the trauma of those 51 days from his mind, it haunts him still. Since his release, Ibrahim, who was born in the UK, has become quieter, more prone to tears. Everyday trips, on the bus, to the shops, along the road, can trigger fears he struggles to understand.
