Ken Knabb's masperized translations

05-02-2006 04:02 | Workers' Movements | World

For decades, the only translation of the Situationist International's text about Jean Maitron -- an "anarchist" historian who'd falsified one of the SI's texts, got called on it and, when he didn't do anything, was roughed-up by two young situs -- was Ken Knabb's masperized version, which failed to translate well over half of this relatively short text. We are happy to announce that NOT BORED! has translated the text, from scratch and in its entirety, as it once did with Knabb's masperization of Guy Debord's "The SI Today."

The Terrorist Worker

07-01-2006 21:36 | Terror War | Workers' Movements | World

The appearance of working class New York in the media was possible only as innocent victims of a selfish and greedy strike by union workers. Yet, in a reversal that approaches absurdity, vulnerability to real poverty by missing a few days of work does not add to an argument against unions but shows the very real need for them.

Haiti: $100,000 NED Grant to Batay Ouvriye- A

07-01-2006 07:19 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Globalisation | Workers' Movements | World

Recently declassified National Endowment for Democracy (NED) documents reveal that a "leftist" workers' organization, Batay Ouvriye (BO), which promoted and called for the overthrow of the constitutionally elected government of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, was the targeted beneficiary of a US $99,965 NED grant routed through the AFL-CIO's American Center for International Solidarity (ACILS). Listed in NED's "Summary of Projects Approved in FY 2005" for Haiti, the grant states, "ACILS will work with the May 1st Union Federation- Batay Ouvriye [ESPM-BO] to train workers to organize and educate fellow workers."

Hunger Strike Launched by the WTO Political Prisoners

06-01-2006 08:35 | Globalisation | Social Struggles | Workers' Movements | World

12 of the 14 WTO Political Prisoners have decided to launch an indefinite hunger strike starting January 5 to not only highlight the injustice of their case, but more importantly highlight the reason for them coming to Hong Kong---to protest against the WTO. Their fight was not with the people of Hong Kong, but with the undemocratic institution of the WTO and the free trade policies implemented by the WTO without any real consultation with workers and farmers.

Lifelong Work

30-12-2005 14:21 | Workers' Movements | World

Pension schemes and the labor market are in an irreconci-lable opposition. This schizoid argumentation has long sunk into mass consciousness.. That a society with the highest productivity of world history chains seniors to production longer than in the Middle Ages is hardly upsetting.
