3 years 2 days since the last - Mauritania has a coup.

06-08-2008 20:19 | Analysis | Migration | Other Press | World

At first glance the news that the 147th richest (or 36th poorest) state on the planet with less than 4 million population has had yet another coup d'etat might not seem newsworthy. Until you realise that current European migration & "drug war" policies hinge on the amenability of the regime in the desert state.

Although the EU has only set aside €156 million of aid for 2008-2013 or roughly 54 million sterling a year - a myriad of agreements made since the last coup d'etat have allowed for the EU to start their southern border against migration in the buffer zone just the other side of our 2,720 km long security fence for Africa.

With Troops on the street, the Fascists must be in power.

05-08-2008 18:46 | Anti-militarism | Migration | Other Press | World

There has been the usual mix of resigned reactions and utterly vile apologism in English language media globally today to news that 3,000 Italian soldiers are patrolling Rome, Naples & Milan with that states police in the latest measure to "stop crime" which according to Berlusconi and crew is all caused by illegal migrants, gypsies or people who carry the gene for premature balding yet inexplicably still have a full head of virile hairy hair.

Oh yes. Especially those ones.

For so long people used the wicked word "Fascist" to describe the Italian right that it has now lost all its proper power to shock. What next they asked too many times.
So we no longer read the question marks after Camps? Striped Pyjamas? Caged Ghettoes?

We are hostages of an oppressive anti-democratic regime

14-07-2008 16:44 | Free Spaces | Migration | Repression | World

Hereby, we address our call to the civil society in democratic Europe, especially from the Czech republic, to the free mass-media to help us in the justified and lawful effort of autoexilation in order for us to be able to activate as free human beings and as a perfectly legal organization.

19-06-2008 12:04 | Migration | Repression | Terror War | London | World

In a London hospital Mahmoud Abu Rideh lies in a critical condition from a hunger strike against the Control Order conditions which he has lived under for more than three years. Following an attempt on his life more than a month ago, he has been refusing food, and much of the time even ice cubes or water for 31 days. Wheelchair-bound, he is now coughing and excreting blood. Disillusioned with the injustice he has encountered in Britain, all Mr Abu Rideh requests is allowance to leave the UK and be deported to Syria, or for his Control Order to be lifted.
