Political Destabilization in South and Central Asia: The Role of the CIA-ISI Ter

19-09-2008 09:57 | Anti-militarism | Globalisation | Terror War | World

Recent terror attacks in New Delhi on September 13, 2008, raise the questions of who was responsible and for what reason these attacks occurred. Terror attacks in India are not a new phenomenon, however, in their recent past, they can be largely attributed to the actions, finances, training and resources of one organization: The Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). These new bombings bare the same relationship with the ISI as has occurred in the past, and so it must be asked: what is the purpose of the ISI both in Central Asia as well as South Asia?

19-09-2008 07:41 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Globalisation | World

Venezuelan government officials rejected the U.S. government's renewed placement of Venezuela and the addition of Bolivia to a list of principal countries where illegal drugs are transported or produced, calling it a political maneuver meant to weaken the Venezuelan and Bolivian governments at a time when both are confronting potential coup d'états waged by domestic opposition groups.

EU Pirate Policy : aint "War" but is "shoot to kill". a Q&A

17-09-2008 13:51 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Ocean Defence | World

All those soothsayers of a common European militarist policy operating from within the institutions of EU governance, rather than the aliance of NATO or proper international action allowed by UN resolutions, should get a vindicated kick out of the news that Brussels has opened a military task force on "Somali pirates".

A short Q&A so you seem like you know enough to bluff conversation on this.

U.S. Risks Catastrophic Defeat in Pakistan

17-09-2008 10:48 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

The U.S. is risking "incalculable" consequences with its raids into Pakistan, the only Muslim nation with an atomic arsenal. Pakistan is the least hospital place for American troops, a nation where "Osama bin Laden is infinitely more popular than George Bush." If Washington continues to violate Pakistan's borders, it might get "run out of South Asia on a rail."

Disaster in Afghanistan

12-09-2008 22:00 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

It is difficult to find out what is really going on in Afghanistan. The focus of the mass media is almost entirely on the military activities of the Canadian and NATO forces. There is absolutely no coverage of political developments. The news on the economy is limited to the state of the poppy industry. This is no accident. The North American media, including the CBC, has strongly supported the U.S./NATO strategy and the administration of President Hamid Karzai. Contrary to the mainstream message, things are not going well.

NO to Missile Defense - Oct 4 - Menwith Hill

Stop Missile Defense at Menwith, Harrogate.
Show your strength of feeling against American Missile Defense by coming to Menwith Hill near Harrogate. This US system, which Brown quietly said yes to in 2007, is making huge waves in Eastern Europe: Poland has agreed to missiles and the Czech Republic, despite a majority of its people against, has agreed to the US radar component for MD. Russia is already comparing these plans to the Cuban Missile Crisis...

US Election Campaign: National Security and Permanent Wars. Vying to Be Toughest

09-09-2008 13:47 | Anti-militarism | Anti-racism | Repression | World

Ignoring public sentiment, both party nominees stress "national security" and face off on who's toughest on "terrorism." For 2009, expect more of the same. A continued right wing agenda. Bigger budgets for militarism. Police state repression for enforcement. Little attention to public needs. No end to wars and occupation. Possible new ones against Iran, Pakistan, elsewhere in Eurasia, and a resurgent confrontation with Russia.

Frank Grevil was sentenced to four months in jail for leaking these documents.
