Climate change So what legacy will we leave behind?

08-02-2009 16:43

I wrote the following article and I would like to have it get a little more exposure than just a letter to the editor in the local newspaper. The problem with the global warming theory is that it can cloud one's vision from a real threat, global cooling. And in so doing can cause great harm to this country.

Manchester airport: emissions cleared for take-off

05-02-2009 19:26

Manchester City Council announced their 'Call to Action' on climate change last month, which plans to reduce the City's emissions by one third by 2020. Great! we thought: the Council owns 55% of Manchester Airport Group (MAG), so surely this 'Call to Action' would see the Airport's emissions reduce as well? Alas no: the Council simply washed their hands of this issue.

In the light of the excuses given for the recent Indymedia server seizer in Manchester, this story is highly relevant. In Italy, a rather disturbing prosecution is taking place. Gggollum Sues Tolkien for Cyber Libel

05-02-2009 12:33

Sir David Eady, possibly the most famous high court judge in the UK, was brought in to rule on the case of Christopher Carrie, who claims he was abused as a child by John Tolkien, a priest and scoutmaster, and son of the Lord of the Rings author. Mr Carrie was trying to sue Royd Tolkien, one of the writer’s great-grandsons and a bit-part actor in one of the massively successful Lord of the Rings films, over comments made on a website. The fact that Mr Carrie was behind the website only came out in the build-up to the court case. He had previously posted entries on the website under the name ``gggollum''.

Manchester's MPs Must Oppose Government Data-Sharing Powers

25-01-2009 23:43

Manchester NO2ID Logo
Local campaign group NO2ID are calling upon Manchester's MPs to oppose radical data sharing powers, to be debated in Parliament on Monday as part of the Coroners and Justice Bill.

These would allow Government ministers to take any private information about Manchester's residents, collected by any organisation for any purpose, and share it with anybody of their choosing, with no debate in Parliament. For example, the Minister for Health could access Tesco's club card database and see who's buying more wine than average.
