Another Franco-German nuclear waste transport this autumn

German authorities have allowed another transport of highly active nuclear waste from France to the north German village of Gorleben this year.
It will be the first since 2006 and as usual is expected in autumn on dates not yet revealed.
Each transport by train and trucks usually costs about 30 million euros to police as thousands of demonstrators from all over Germany converge on Gorleben, roughly equidistant between Hamburg and Hanover.
About 20,000 police drawn from all over Germany are usually marshalled into the area to assure passage on the last 20 kilometres of the journey by heavy-duty, low-loader trucks from a railhead at Dannenberg to the prefabricated storage hall at Gorleben.

Amsterdam International Day of Autonomous spaces + RTS

On April the 11th the Tekenschool (part of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam) was squatted by the April 2008 Coordination Group. The building was used for socials and workshops and as a base for Indymedia NL. The MRC are to be holding "open meetings" this week in "a community centre" they state on their website. When and where then are these "open meetings".?
They also claim that local people are "very interested" in the lab plans. Interested? We are ANGRY!

BBC1 / ITN / UK Major Safety Alert issued today as Camden contracts exchanged.

On the front page of today's thelondonpaper {www.thelondonpaper.com/} a "Major safety alert was announced as the MRC admitted 'having exchanged contracts' and it was announced that the centre will hlod deadly viruses such as ebola, anthrax and rabies". Scientists and MP's are criticising the project as residents are planning to fight 'in any way necessary' to protect their families.
