22-09-2008 14:13 | Culture | Other Press | Social Struggles | London | World

Police Informant posters went up all over Camden In July. The professionally done posters had the picture of a well known local character. The man's head was pictured on the body of a rat and the posters stated that "this man is paid police grass". They were posted up two at time all over Camden and close to Pentonville prison. This was published in the Islington and Camden Gazettes.

Berlusconi vetoes Oliver Stone "W" movie.

14-09-2008 12:39 | Culture | Other Press | World

"il Festival de Roma" is to be celebrated between the 22nd and 31st of October this year and will include movie premiers as usual. The organisers had they thought pulled off a bit of a "coup de grace" if not "coup d'etat" when they signed up Oliver Stone's "W" a forthcoming global release which tells the story on one young alcoholic's bravery in the face of overwhelming odds to achieve his dream of the presidency of the USA. Alas, festival organisers didn't count on the cinematic interest of Italy's modern day "Duce" who like his forebear realises the power of the silver screen to teach the masses some truth. According to the British distributors of the product Dda it was Mr B. who vetoed the movie arguing it is insulting & misleading - simply "untrue" something the seventh art ought not be. "Mr B knows best." & Roman festival goers aint gonna see the movie.

Street Party ESF 2008- We are taking it all back!

07-09-2008 11:41 | Culture | Free Spaces | Social Struggles | World

let's dance
We're sick of working for a ridiculous wage with only tendon-stretching, muscle-ache and early retirement to look forward to. We're sick of women getting a lower wage than men and we are really goddamn sick of the politicians that are supposed to be on ordinary people's side having long since turned into pseudoliberals and sent those of us who can't find a job to Malmö's own daycare center for adults: the employment office.

Two cities - two Bristol bookfair fundraisers

02-09-2008 09:27 | Culture | Social Struggles | World

As the excitement builds in the run up to Bristol’s first anarchist bookfair in 15 years, bookfair organisers have 2 more benefit nights arranged in Bath & Bristol over the next seven days. These benefit nights allow us to raise the funds to pay for the bookfair, whilst having a good night out, ensuring there is no need for a formal entry fee at the bookfair itself. Anarchists eh, what a bunch of self-funding, self-organised idealists!

Letting Government into Grown-up Sex and some Psiphon.

28-08-2008 17:08 | Culture | Gender | Technology | World

Nobuyoshi Arakii
Government and Sex don't really go together at the best of times. At the heart of
that especial relationship which has shaped global discourse for eight years
is a puritanism which has an over-weening interest in both artistic discourse
and grown-up sex.

At bottom this seems to be combined with a fear and distrust of anything
that is 'other' to what seems , frankly, a limited experience of human sexuality.

Cuba arrests Punk band singer as "danger" to regime.

28-08-2008 01:03 | Culture | Repression | World

he doesn't even have proper punk hairstyle.
The band is called "Porno para Ricardo" which I suppose would translate as "pornography for Richard". Whatever, the Cuban authorities don't like the name, and it seems they don't like the lyrics either. Honestly not surprising when you consider they are a bunch of very old men.

But now they've decided to do something about it by arresting the writer of those lyrics and front man of the four piece band and they want to sending him to jail for four years because he is a "danger" to Cuban society.
