Copyright Mark Knudsen // Monsun.dk
Today is truely a historic day for the colorfull youth of Copenhagen. It started as a big demo 'For more Youthhouses' - and ended fullfilling it's own wishes at once! Another Youthhouse has just opened earlier today in the Copenhagen North Western part of town in a big industrial building, Dortheavej 63, half an hour walk from the other Youth House.

Hungry For A Month

05-01-2007 07:35 | Culture | World

Hungry For A Month
For the month of November, I only spent $30 on food. The only exception were things that are freely available to the average person (salt taken from restaurants, sauce packets from Taco Bell, free coffee from an office). Buying in advance was fine, but at the end of the month, it all had to add up to $30 or less.

Earlier this month, a student-run non-profit infoshop celebrated its grand opening at The Evergreen State College (TESC) in Olympia, Washington, USA. Using the guise of a state funded student group, volunteers of The Evergreen Infoshoppe were allotted over $4,000 to purchase radical books, zines, and videos for their lending library and resource center. After only a few weeks of planning, the Infoshoppe now hosts an ever-growing collection in a permanent, centrally located and nearly autonomous location.

Hang Him, hang Him Quick!

27-12-2006 02:15 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Culture | World

The puppet judiciary of occupied Iraq today announced that Saddam Hussein would be hanged within 30 days. Saddam is presently being tried for the mass murder of Kurdish villagers but the judiciary insisted that he MUST be executed regardless of any other proceedings. This decision is a ‘just in time’ corporate-style decision – just in time for what the uninformed reader would ask? Just in time to save America from incrimination for supplying the chemical weapons and expertise required to kill the innocent Kurdish villagers – that is the REAL NEWS of the day!

Billion Eyes of the Beast

21-12-2006 13:18 | Culture | Other Press | Technology | World

On the Web, anyone with a digital camera has the power to change history.
In 1991, when a bystander videotaped the police beating of Rodney King
in Los Angeles, the incident was almost unbelievable‹ not the violence
but the recording of it. Imagine! That four policemen would pummel a
subdued man, and someone would just happen to have a camera! What were
the odds?

Pot Cultivation in Today’s America

21-12-2006 03:48 | Analysis | Culture | Repression | World

It’s official, marijuana represents the USA’s most lucrative locally grown product – at $200 billion/annum, corn, wheat and potatoes are chicken feed. While U.S. borders seep various powdered imports it’s good ol’ home grown pot that makes the bankers smile. The USA is drowning in contraband and the negative social ramifications of the neo-PROHIBITION of unenlightened conservative beliefs – when will they ever learn?

Stop Fascist Aggression in the Basque Country!

17-12-2006 20:46 | Anti-racism | Culture | World

Two new fascist attacks have been reported to the police in Vitoria in the Basque Country. The first attack took place on December 12 at 10:15am in front of the headquarters of the UGT, in the Metalworkers' Federation, when UGT union members, with thirty years experience, attempted to seek refuge from the aggression of an individual of around 30 years of age who had attacked them on the streets as they put up posters. The man was able to gain access to UGT headquarters, with the passivity and then collaboration of the security guard, José Víñas who worked for the security company, Vinsa. He was equally aggressive with the two union members for putting up posters with his photo (Víñas is a known fascist who met regularly with a group of fascists at the UGT headquarters. One fascist was able to gain access to the UGT headquarters and provoke a problem

Voices of Torture in London

08-12-2006 11:30 | Anti-racism | Culture | Free Spaces | Repression | Social Struggles | London | World

Last night at the regular rampART social centre cinema night a disapointingly small audience was treated to a series of film being presented under the theme 'alternative black history month'.

Along with the films was a illuminating discussion about deportation, torture and the awful human rights abuse in Eritrea. Coincidently we also learned of a demonstration called for today outside the Eritrean embassy to commemorate The International Human Rights Day.
