Athens Court, Monday: Parents clashed with the police outside building 7, were the the minor charges are facing trial. The conflict started after some parents tried to enter the building, and they were pushed away by the cops. The conflict spread around and the cops started hitting. The cops sprayed some parents on the face, one parent collapsed and another one was transferred to the hospital.
Photos posted in Indymedia show a cop hitting, by holding his baton the way round, which is strictly prohibited.

This letter is being written to you from Rapid City, SD. Rapid City is the second largest city in South Dakota and at the opposite end of the state from Sioux Falls. It is from here that women must travel five hours to Sioux Falls, seven and a half hours to Denver, or eight hours to Omaha to have an abortion. An official British Government agency chose to mark UNESCO’s International Mother Language Day and its theme of ‘harmonious environment for all languages’ by questioning whether non-English speaking immigrants should be admitted to the country.

Students in Wales claim that only 1.5% of higher education students in Wales receive courses in their own language and that only 0.3 of the University of Wales' budget is spent on Welsh language courses

Shortly after midday on Saturday the 3rd Feb, environmental activists defaced a Shell Oil sponsored photo exhibition and called on the Natural History Museum to drop it's greenwashing deal with the oil giant.

While a banner was dropped in the main hall and 600 leaflets handed out to members of the public, an oil like substance was sprayed over the wildlife photos in the Shell sponsored exhibition. There were a large number of security personnel present and some of the protesters were assaulted by panicking museum staff and members of the public but there were no arrests.

The action follows the publication of Shell's 2006 record breaking financial figures and the release of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change fourth report which yet again suggests that climate change is happening faster then previously predicted.
