China and America: The Tibet Human Rights PsyOp

The human rights issue has become the centerfold of media disinformation.

China is no model of human rights but neither are the US and its
indefectible British ally, responsible for extensive war crimes and human
rights violations in Iraq and around the World. The US and its allies, which
uphold the practice of torture, political assassinations and the
establishment of secret detention camps, continue to be presented to public
opinion as a model of Western democracy to be emulated by developing
countries, in contrast to Russia, Iran, North Korea and the People's
Republic of China. Read more >>

Scientology vs Wikileaks

Wikileaks.org describes itself as "an uncensorable Wikipedia for untraceable mass document leaking and analysis. Our primary interest is in exposing oppressive regimes in Asia, the former Soviet bloc, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East, but we also expect to be of assistance to people of all regions who wish to reveal unethical behavior in their governments and corporation". In recent years it has stood up against the US government, Swiss bankers, African dictators, and more. Most recently, it has faced a new enemy: the money-hungry cult known as the Church of Scientology. Read more >>

MP hurts cyclist whilst driving out of parliament - was he breathalised?

Scientology's Gulags: inside the Rehabilitation Project Force

The Church of Scientology is an authoritarian cult whose parallels with authoritarian regimes around the world are well-documented. Most members are kept under control through misinformation and brainwashing. However, like any totalitarian institution, the Church of Scientology has its way of dealing with problematic members. Sea Shepherd rebuked by IWC as Rumours emerge of Compromise on Whaling

Gun Discharge from Nisshin Maru, 7 March
Reports from the International Whaling Commission 3 day intercessional meeting in London say that commercial whaling may be allowed but the scientific loophole which has allowed Japan to whale in the Antarctic may be closed. This would allow Japan to whale commercially in the north Pacific regulated by the IWC. The meeting also rebuked Sea Shepherd over "Safety at Sea".

Scientology as Sci-Fi Fascism (corrected)

(if an administrator could remove the previous version of this article it would be much appreciated)

Today I was reading Ur-Fascism ( http://www.pegc.us/archive/Articles/eco_ur-fascism.pdf) by Umberto Eco. In it he addresses a common political problem: how to define fascism. The problem is the incoherence in fascism either as a philosophy or a movement. Anti-capitalist or pro-business, conservative yet revolutionary, contradictory both within and between movements which take the name. Eco identifies a number of characteristics which are common to fascist movements, while acknowledging that not all will be present in any one movement or philosophy, and that a number of perceived contradictions do not prevent movements being categorised together. These characteristics are described as Ur-Fascism, or Eternal Fascism, the base on which fascist traditions may be built. Read more >>
