What or which is the single most pernicious ‘mainstream British media factory’ for legitimising racist falsification? It is not the London Daily Mail. We know that is what the Daily Mail wants to do. It is the Guardian which denies the accusation but does it daily. Closer examination of the Guardian’s staff composition shows that more of them follow the agenda of the racist Daily mail than would admit to doing. The Guardian’s latest crusade against the community in the East End of London has brought to the fore the latest version of a pro-racist phantom image which the Guardian then uses as the tool to enable the likes of Salman Rushdie to get back to doing what they are paid and given platform to do – justify racism under any pretext at any time. As the Westminster House of Commons Crossrail Select Committee practically winds down the main business of going through the motions of hearing objections to the Bill, concern is rising about the very shabby way that the Committee has treated the main opponents.
It is expected that the Select Committee will back the Government Crossrail Bill. Thousands of families will suffer across the East End as a result.
To prevent this becoming inevitable, a London wide democracy pressure group has today extended its support to the Khoodeelaar! Campaign against Crossrail attacks on the Brick Lane and Whitechapel Area in East London
This announcement follows a day long campaign against Crossrail hole attacks programme conference held in the Brick Lane and Whitechapel London E1 area today.

Just as Tony Blair has been shown this past week to have suffered another dramatic reduction of his image, 'thanks' to his visible alliance of stuttering supplication to G W Bush, so is the domestic UK legislature caught in a morass of unimaginative 'law'-making, as the CrossRail Bill 'scrutiny' committee has been showing by its failure to allow bona fide objectors put the evidence before it. Next week's filing in the High Court of the formal challenge against the Secretary of State is set to create a record in the history of battles to make the UK Parliament representative of basic standards of democracy that it is often claimed to typify. The constitutional contribution of the Khoodeelaar! campaign towards democratising the UK parliament will be a fitting one, given that the East End of London has been chosen by the Select Committee to be denied its say in the so-called peoples’ parliament.

This is the transcript of a public address by Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed, author of The London Bombings: An Independent Inquiry (Duckworth, 2006) at the first parliamentary meeting calling for an independent public inquiry into the 7/7 terrorist attacks. The meeting was held in the House of Lords, 12th July 2006, chaired by Lord Rea. The event was sponsored by CAMPACC (www.campacc.org.uk) and supported by London Metropolitan University's Human Rights and Social Justice Research Institute, Stop Political Terror, and several other campaign groups. Panelists included 7/7 survivor Rachel North, antiwar activist and author Milan Rai, international lawyer Professor Bill Bowring, among others. Also participating were 7/7 survivors Holly Finch and John Tulloch. In this address, Nafeez Ahmed, who teaches international relations at Sussex University, explores the reasons why an independent public inquiry is needed, and also explains why the government doesn't want one.

Many different people predict a wide variety of timescales for peak oil and the downslide on the other side. Some people say we have already peaked and others say we've got maybe another six or even eight years. However, the nature of the problem means that we'll only know we've reach global peak after the event as we look back on falling production figures....

George Galloway the MP for Bethnal Green and Bow made a rare appearance in the UK House of Commons on Wednesday 14 June 2006. Rare in the sense that his presentation was low key. Much lower key than many of his comments on the same subject, the Crossrail Bill, had been. In the course of the past five months, at least until Monday 10 April 2006, George Galloway’s comments made in the constituency have been emphatically unequivocally opposed to the CrossRail Bill. It was logically expected therefore that when his turn came to formally speak to his own petition lodged in September 2005 against the Crossrail Bill, he would maintain the standard of arguments and democratic outrage that were present in all those other comments he had made against the CrossRail plan. But Galloway did not maintain that standard in his presentation in the Hosue of Commons Crossrail Bill select committee yesterday..

There was an article on Guardian unlimited by someone called leader, on the police raid and shooting of a young Muslim, which, now appearing to have been based on flimsy intelligence is yet another diesel soaked rag to the anti-western fire burning throughout the Islamic world. The freeing of two innocent men arrested in the June 2 police raid in Forest Gate, London underscores the dubious character of all of the claims made by the government, the police and security services in pursuit of the “war on terror.”
Some 250 police officers were mobilised for the dawn raid on the poor immigrant neighbourhood in east London. Two houses were targeted based on intelligence that they were the location for a chemical bomb factory run by two brothers, Mohammed Abdul Kahar and Abdul Koyair.

The Khoodeelaar! campaign against the Crossrail hole Bill - Blair’s de facto salvaging of the career of Christine Gilbert via the Ofsted appointment is only significant as a peripheral indicator of how immoral his decision making is, contrary to the routine professions that he is at all a morally active ethically laudable decision maker… the central lesson is that his judgement is seriously flawed and that he is as anti-democratic and unconstitutional on this one as he has been on all key issues of the day in his 'premiership'.. Blair’s recent acknowledgement that the crossrail bill [now in the uk house of commons] had to be ‘handled sensibly’ showed the latest public confirmation that our campaign against Crossrail bill was affecting him and his unaccountable entourage.
