On 8th March 2006, WWO is going to arrange a demonstration in Lahore to pay tribute to women of world as well as to state our protest, against oppression against women. WWO has initiated celebrations of International Women Day by producing a poster and stickers. As well as, articles about “women struggle and problems faced by women workers in Pakistan” has been written by WWO’s executive council members, that will be send to all local and national newspapers. WWO will also participate in different forums; organize by electronic and print media on international women day.

In Tucson, Arizona women will hold a rolling fast leading up to a huge rally on the anniversary of the occupation of Iraq, March 18. In Oakland, California women will march from the military recruiting center to a church where women of color soldiers will speak out in opposition to this war. Pyeongtaek, South Korea - On March 6th, 2006, South Korean military riot police began an attack on the autonomous village of Daechuri. For over four years, Daechuri and the nearby community of Doduri have defiantly resisted the siezure of their homes and fields for the expansion of an United States Army base. Barracaded inside the elementary school, rice farmers, elderly residents, and peace activists are holding out against sporadic, sometimes intense attacks by Korea's elite military police force. International support is needed to pressure the Korean government to halt its brutal assault.

Court action to force the East London Borough of Tower Hamlets Council to abandon its collusion with Crossrail hole attack plan on the community is about to be mounted. This has taken two years preparation and the community campaign group Khoodeelaar has published the first list of grounds today. The Crossrail hole Bill is a reference to the hybrid 'Crossrail Bill' now in the UK House of Commons

The threat posed to the East End of London by the UK Hosue of Commons draft piece of legislation, the CROSSRAIL Bill, goes beyond the planned destruction of entire communities and neighbourhoods. It also includes the destruction of what remains of local democracy, and the electors say on what is done in their name by their own 'locally elected council'. The Khoodeelaar! Campaign has just finalised the first comprehensive report on the role of those councillors who have held key posts in Tower Hamlets Council. They have acted as touts and as agents for Crossrail hole plan. Just as nominations for council elections begin to be finalised for the scheduled May 4 local elections, the findings of the Khoodeelaar! UK Transport Secretary Alistair Darling MP has had his Department for Transport [DfT] write to the Khoodeelaar! Campaign in the East End of London against the Crassrail hole Bill as part of a strategy to salvage the careers of the controlling Blairite Tower Hamlets Council. Khoodeelaar! held another powerful demonstration against that Council on Wednesday 1 March 2006.

The 1 March 2006 Khoodeelaar! No to Crossrail hole Council demo was supported by RESPECT coalition MP George Galloway and by the main Opposition on Tower Hamlets Council, the Liberal Democrats. At the Council meeting that followed the same evening, Lib Dem councillor Louise Alexander sought to have Tower Hamlets show recognition to the community and to identify with the community in opposing the Crassrail hole plan attacks Bill.

The controlling clique failed to recognize the momentous importance of the motion and they even jeered at Councillor Alexander part of the time that she was presenting her arguments in support of the motion.

The only other non-Lib Dem councillor who supporter Louise Alexander was the RESPECT councillor Oliur Rahman

In his speech at the Khoodeelaar! demonstration earlier in the evening, Oliur Rahman described the controlling clique on Tower Hamlets Council as crooks and vowed to do everything he and his colleagues could do to remove them from office at the scheduled 4 May 2006 council elections.
