Lakenheath 8 go to trial over 2 years later..

SOCPA at USAF Lakenheath.
On 3rd November 2008 the Lakenheath 8 had their final pre-trial review. The trial will take place from December 1st - 4th at Ipswich Crown Court, two years and two months after their taking action to prevent more innocent victims in the continuing bombing of Iraq and Afghanistan undertaken by US planes from USAF Lakenheath in Suffolk. . (Crown court applies to the venue, not this trial, which will be heard by a District Judge).
On the 2nd October 2006, 8 people cut the fence ran into the US military base and locked themselves to the gate of the Special Munitions Store at RAF Lakenheath in order to stop the use of those weapons and in order to secure evidence of War Crimes.

LSE student assualted
Police have used unlawful violence to prevent a student demonstration at the London School of Economics. Students gathered outside the opening of the New Academic Building by the Queen to protest against the naming of a lecture theatre after Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the dead dictator of the UAE. When the group dropped a banner reading "No more Dirty Money at LSE" a policeman approached the group and, without warning, kneed a student in the crotch and punched him on the side of the head twice.

This is in committee at present and it is astonishing how there has not been a public outcry or any discussion about the implications of this part of the Bill.

sections 132-138 of the 'serious organised crime and police act' sought to control demonstrations near parliament, and specifically brian haw's seven year vigil opposite the carriage gates. the law is in tatters, but police, unable to use these powers, are resorting more and more to unlawful violence, intimidation, and harassment
