It often seems a special scourge involving seemingly yesterdays occupations under ruthless dynasties and dictatorships, great evil of the past without any current effects other than emotional irritations over substantial compensation. But outside the phoney narrative of co-prosperity in co-denial which proliferated from the defeated Asian brand of fascism after the atomic bombings, the foreign occupation legacy plays a forefront role in the sick ideology driving the current wars of imperialist hypocrisy. In the Praise of Dialectics, Bert Brecht describes the entire pattern of such a constellation, from the attitude of the exploitation, over the ensuing time anomaly in the communication, to the spirit of emancipation. The Japanese legacy is not merely a Japanese issue, it is an imperialist issue, as can easily be seen from the fact that entire regions of the world are stuck in associations of the past century instead of being up to the current issues and their resolution. These include first and foremost the Europeans and the North Americans,who accelerate this frenzy merely because they find little else to share in their political differences. One European regime has just recently discovered one of its spies apparently sold the construction plans of its headquarters to Washington. And obviously the latter was really interested in more than handing an unopened envelope back to an ally. Nevertheless they share with each other the political paralysis resulting from likewise organised crimes against human dignity, as do a number of reactionary regimes in the former Japanese sphere of influence. They are busy looking back at their past involvements because their current affairs are gravitating around the very same issue.

It is internal Israeli issues, intimidations integrated into its ill intentions, or other omissions of originality, which use to be rendered as the explanation regarding Palestinian suffering under Israeli militarism. Of course this also makes every minor lack of transparency in the militarist narrative a huge affair, as already the Kaiser noticed once his war plan came to fail.

Documents from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) last year showed that five congressmen belonging to the Makabayan bloc in the House of Representatives received a combined P481 million in Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) since President Aquino assumed office in 2010.

The announcement had been a typical expression of the distorted perception, improper appropriation and self-destructive intention of an overheated military-industrial complex: According to the institutions of the Washington regime, its military deployment was neither limited in time nor was an unlimited planning frame admitted. Instead the imperialist announced that military occupation of Manila and the islands was covering the foreseeable future, and thereby served a definition of transparency of time whose implications require a detailed look. According to the military empire itself, its future is unforeseeable as much as both numbered amounts of time and stability as a concept defined out of itself are concerned. More precisely, it is in fact devoid of any future and the contradictory concept of time transported in its ideology is a symptom of that lack. The empire is trying to say, other than by means of such occupation it cannot remain with the people of the world at all. This is the good news in the bad news: The Philippine occupation, despite the offence it is, is an empty speculation of the dying empire, an admission of its lack of perspective, and a desperate act of aggression aimed at stealing the future of the people not only on the archipelago but in the region and beyond without any purpose. That is in fact the most remarkable quality of the situation: The empire is not stealing for its own benefit, it is stealing to deprive others of their expectable benefits without any perspective of own benefit. Yet that is precisely the pattern of behaviour that historically precedes the downfall thereof.

A few thoughts on the JFK assassination

It turns out the Left can move people – just not very far or in very interesting directions.



Seeing as how these things are usually rained out or freezing, The People’s Assembly at least managed to pick a nice enough day for their “No More Austerity: Demand the Alternative” march on Saturday (June 21st).

It’s a shame they couldn’t also have picked a more inspiring message – begging the government to stop the public service cuts they’re ideologically committed to and demanding a new Labour government as the only ‘alternative’ they can imagine. Hardly an Earth shatteringly radical call to arms for the poor and oppressed. But they do have Russell Brand, so that’s something.

It is the best news since Rosa Luxemburg rejoiced over the collapse of the Kaiser´s „peace“ plan in WWI, only that this time it is not American capitalists running amok over collateral disruption of their lethal business, but indigenous people liberating themselves from the remainder of imperialist occupation who intervene into a dystopian scenario all painted with the mimicry of utopia. Yet the significance of the fresh uprising in the Land of the Two Rivers is not merely expressed in the reports of mercenaries burying their uniforms in the near death experience of their suicidal oaths, and the hectic and contradictory reactions of various imperialist factions to the unexpected surge which remind of these nearly a century ago, it is first of all coming to the fore in the observation that the creative chaos which is rapidly defeating the occupation is something entirely new which does not fit any of the descriptions the various reactionaries are attempting to attach to it. In fact, it is neither a nation nor a government nor a market, and although it is calling itself a state it does not at all resemble the capitalist state. It takes the place of the state but it is set to retreat from worldly matters once state pressure against the territory and the people declines. Nevertheless it is not merely a knee-jerk reaction to the external pressure of imperialism, it also is an early prototype for the permanent solution of the occupation issue bearing unique potential to end the world war without massive death of innocents.

We continue where we left off last time, reading from Mark Gorton's unparalleled denunciation of the criminal enterprise at work in USA, Fifty Years of the Deep State. We conclude the first hour by briefly reflecting on Noam Chomsky's opinions on 9/11. In our second hour, we hear a talk by Peter Dale Scott at the 10th anniversary hearings on the 9/11 event, in which he examines the conduct of the US government agencies tasked with protecting the country from terrorist attacks.

At the risk of oversimplifying the definition of revolution, I dare say it involves three dynamics: critique and destruction of the existing social order, building a new world, and the continuous reinvention of the self.

The pontiff’s message to the Palestinian people during his three-day “pilgrimage” to the Holy Land boils down to an endorsement of the Israeli and U.S. message to them, i.e.: “The only route to peace” is to negotiate with the Israeli occupying power, refrain from unilateral actions and “violent” resistance and recognize Israel as a fait accompli.
