In their frantic drive to pave the way for a military strike against Iran, leading figures in the neoconservative pro-Israel lobby have embarked on a vicious campaign of demonizing that country by comparing it with the early years of Nazi Germany and its President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, with Hitler.

This would be impossible without the tacit support of foreign Governments and the media. The silence and Apathy of the people, however, allows THEM to get away with this.

The Israeli Government, as the documentary "Lessons in Hate" demonstrate, indoctrinate Israel's children with Revisionist history lessons, which ultimately leads to misunderstanding.

This has to change, if the Palestinians are ever to receive the justice they, like all other people, so deserve.

When Israel assured the world last week that there would be "no humanitarian problems" regarding these impending fuel cuts, its government spokespeople were simply lying through their collective teeth.

Those assurances were simply crafted for the consumption of the international community, and have absolutely no relationship to the even further suffering Gazans will begin to experience starting next weekend.

Did the ‘Muslim Lib Dem MEP’, who has just defected to the David Ca-moron tent, exist as anything political withiest using the Lib Dems as a platform? The 'news' is 'neatly' timed to coincide with the very-hyped 'debate' being staged by the business promoters for the brand name of Oxford today !

The Price of Sugar is a powerful documentary about the plight of Haitians toiling on sugar plantations in the Dominican Republic. These workers cross the border from Haiti to labor in conditions that the film's central protagonist, Father Christopher Hartley, calls "quasi-slavery." They are housed in sugar company towns called bateyes. Stripped of identification papers, they cannot legally travel elsewhere in the country.

Hartley is a Spanish priest who came to the Dominican Republic in 1997 and wound up advocating for the cane cutters in his parish. The film gives him plenty of time to voice a thorough, articulate critique of the system which exploits the Haitians. Hartley names the superrich Vicini family as controlling the bateyes; the Vicinis have taken legal action against the film to prevent it from being screened.

Next Saturday 24th noon at Southbank, at the bottom end of Jubilee Gardens, we´ll gather to honour the memory of Carlos, an antifascist who was killed two weeks ago by a nazi in Madrid.

First it was called a "conference", then a "summit" and the latest preferred terminology is "meeting". But whatever you call it, the Annapolis Conference/Summit/Meeting planned for November 27 is not being taken seriously. Just over a week away and there have been no invitations sent out, no joint declaration – not even a consensus on which countries will actually participate.

The Olmert Extremists have sold out the citizens of Israel, plotting to use a supposed 'peace summit' as an excuse for further conflict, which will endanger Israel's civilian and military population alike.

Next Saturday 24th noon at Southbank, by the monument to the international brigades in Jubilee Gardens, we´ll gather to honour the memory of Carlos, an antifascist who was killed two weeks ago by a nazi in Madrid.
