The memorial tent is the safe place, a space of reflection for people to come together to remember those Gazans murdered during Israel’s horrific attacks on a civilan population.

Political and religious dispute should not prevent us from gathering and simply honouring those who have lost their lives in this collective punishment, Israel’s means of terrifying an entire nation.

To date 531 people have died and 2500 have been severely injured, 40 % of which are children.
But these are just numbers not the lives behind the figures nor all the pain and suffering of those still living, facing starvation and constant assault by air, land and water.

In memory of those lost in this bloody act of genocide we ask you to erect a tent in a central location in your local area and invite all, to sit and remember those people lost to our world.

Like much of the world, we have spent the last week watching in shock and disgust as Israel continues its assault on the Gaza Strip. With the body count rising and a new tragedy in full bloom, we feel that it is important to speak out as Jewish youth in Canada and to denounce what Israel is doing in our name. The Jewish diaspora is diverse and divided on its positions on the state of Israel's policies. At this juncture in history, as Israel has committed its worst massacre in Gaza since it began its illegal occupation in 1967, we feel that it is crucial that Jews speak out and denounce Israel's actions that amount to no less than war crimes committed by an apartheid state.

As Jewish youth, we are diverse, but we are unified in our solidarity with
our Palestinian brothers and sisters in Gaza.

The Israeli military is reportedly using napalm-like white phosphorus shells in its all-out attack on Gaza, according to the conservative Times of London. The phosphorus in the smoke-emitting shells causes agonizing, unquenchable burns, sometimes searing flesh right down to the bone.

Gaza, January 5, 2009 (RAMATTAN) – The Israeli attacks on Gaza Strip provoked cries of alarm worldwide, but Israel won heavyweight US backing and moves for an immediate ceasefire foundered at the United Nations.

Bethlehem – Ma’an – In response to the urgent call of the UNRWA, the Indian government decided to send 100 million USD in aid to help in provide housing and basic needs to families in Gaza.

A high-ranking Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) officer has called for an urgent meeting among rival Palestinian factions to discuss the situation in Gaza.

Gaza – Ma’an – Bloodshed continued in theGaza Strip as Israel continued fierce land, sea, and air attacks for a tenth consecutive day. Eighteen Palestinians were killed overnight.

The death toll since the beginning of the ground invasion on Saturday rose to 86, and the total death toll since the beginning of Israeli aggression rose to 526 and more than 2450 injured.

It is possible that the current conflict will provide Israel with the pretext it has needed to finally attack Iran, since government officials have not been shy in discussing the idea before operation Cast Iron began.

The very real possibility of a wider Middle East war — itself capable of drawing in the world — receives no comment from Barack Obama, who also must have known about Israel’s plans beforehand.

My visit back home to the Galilee coincided with the genocidal Israeli attack on Gaza. The state, through its media and with the help of its academia, broadcasted one unanimous voice -- even louder than the one heard during the criminal attack against Lebanon in the summer of 2006. Israel is engulfed once more with righteous fury that translates into destructive policies in the Gaza Strip. This appalling self-justification for the inhumanity and impunity is not just annoying, it is a subject worth dwelling on, if one wants to understand the international immunity for the massacre that rages on in Gaza.

10, 000 people from all over Israel protested against the war on Gaza on 3rd January, 2009. At the end they were attacked as traitors by right-wingers and abandoned by police who were supposed to protect them.

Residents in Gaza have been talking about an unprecedented amount of force being unleashed against them by the Israeli army- but they have also spoken about new kinds of weaponry. It comes as no surprise-Gaza has always been Israel's "testing ground" - from nerve agents used in Khan Younis in 2003 to Sonic Boom "phantom air raids". Now, there is talk of cluster bombs, depleted uranium, and white phosphorus. And these are only the ones people can identify.

The wicked injustice inflicted by the Israeli regime on the long suffering Gazans over the past 60 years and especially during the last week brought 50,000 angry protesters to Trafalgar Square today. Despite the cold, the crowd still had the energy to then march on the Israeli embassy a further 3 miles away despite frequent police obstruction over the whole route.

Operation "Cast Lead" is part of the broader military-intelligence operation initiated at the outset the Ariel Sharon government in 2001. It was under Sharon's "Operation Justified Vengeance" that F-16 fighter planes were initially used to bomb Palestinian cities.
