Last Chance to Shut the Door on GM Human Beings,ACT NOW!

06-05-2008 15:31 | Bio-technology | Ecology | Health | London | World

In just a few weeks British MPs will decide whether to allow scientists to start research on the ultimate step in genetic engineering: the creation of GM ‘designer’ human beings. In the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill, now going through Parliament, the Government wants to allow the creation of GM human embryos, as the first step towards developing "safe" technology for creating GM babies. The creation of GM babies is not just a hypothetical scenario: leading British scientists, such as Robert Winston and Ian Wilmut, have already patented techniques for doing this, including patenting human semen and embryos.

If you care about the impact of GM on food and the environment it makes no sense to be quiet about this.

Islington council kept in dark over "Death Lab" on border with Camden.

11-04-2008 14:41 | Animal Liberation | Bio-technology | Other Press | London | World

We contacted Islington council who it appears have not been informed by Camden council {or anyone else} about the plans for "The World's largest ever, highest level, virus containment facility and animal testing lab" to be built in Kings Cross on the Camden side just a few footsteps from the border with Islington. We wonder, what contingency plans, if any have been drawn up in the event of terror attack or virus leak at the site, scene of 7/7 and 21/7 bombings. Foot and Mouth disease was a govt lab leak.

Message of Support on Abortion Rights .

Message of support.
Abortion is criminalised in Ireland and therefore many Irish women use UK
services. This is not spoken of a lot because we are at a stage where 16 years
after the 'X' case , not one government has introduced abortion law.
Pro-life stand in the streets with images of eviscerated infants and argument is
reduced to: -Abortion is always wrong- which means we do not talk about the issues
of human rights, post-abortion continuity of care, medical abortion or
abortion by choice. It does not exist.

Bothell, Wash. – March 31, 2008 - Biofuels are widely considered one of the most promising sources of renewable energy by policy makers and environmentalists alike. However, unless principles and standards for production are developed and implemented, certain biofuels will cause severe environmental impacts and reduce biodiversity – the very opposite of what is desired.
