The US & UK’s oil & war-hungry foreign-policies look set to see London and other major western cities facing years, perhaps decades, of terrorist guerrilla warfare. Could our elected representatives be doing more to speak out against the illegal wars that have precipitated these barbaric acts?

The Socialist Alliance condemns outright the horrific bombings in London yesterday and expresses our solidarity with all the victims and their families and friends.

It may take as long to figure out what really happened in London today as it's taken to figure out what happened in New York on 9/11/2001.

When I began to write the day after the march in Gleneagles, it was the violence that griped my mind, that formed the words. I, unlike many of the people I spoke to on wednesday, had been drained by sight of it. I felt the moral force ebb away from our protest even as it happened, and it was my sincere wish to be somewhere else. But there are many other stories of that day, and I shall begin with them, because the worst effect of violence is that nothing else can be heard above it - no other voices find their way through. The issues are forgotten, even if the violence is short lived.

It seems that the exasperation of control on people is unnecessary, since the big efforts against the alleged terrorist are completely useless. Control against potential terroristic attack is hardening since September 11 all over Europe and the United States. Even on 7/7 in many countries, like Italy, the premier declared being in higher risks than before, while the US raised the alert level for the nation's mass transit systems to orange. This means that the rise of the politics of fear may be grow, instead of lowering the politic of war.
