They came, they camped, they conquered (well, almost). During a soul-searching Dorset retreat, Climate Camp have decided to suspend tent-centred activism - citing the “radically different political landscape” of 2011. Having been through Drax, Kingsnorth, Heathrow, RBS, Copenhagen and one helluva lot of hummus, the group are now turning their attention to coordination with the wider anti-cuts and anti-austerity movement.

Hi again Everyone.

Firstly to remind you about going to events and festivals.
If you are going to ANY of this sort of thing, however big or small - please remember to take flyers.

The Camp for Climate Action media team are putting together a proposal for the media and cameras on site policy, to be discussed at the July gathering.

Here is a questionnaire which looks at some of the possible concerns and solutions about media on site, and gives you a chance to say what you thought was good or bad about last year's strategy.

Everyone is being asked to help send out invitations to attend the Camp for Climate Action near Heathrow Airport from 14 to 21 August 2007.

Are there people out there fed up with Indymedia being used as a platform for ill-informed and dangerous climate change denial? Can we do anything about it?

BALPA, the airline pilots "union", are stepping up the greenwash in an attempt to counter the excellent publicity currently being given to just how bad for the environment and poor people flying is. Send them an email!

Extraordinary allegations that child slaves are being smuggled into Britain by gangs of armed robbers who steal Big Issue magazines from the street vendors at knife point, and then force terrified children to sell them on the streets of London are being investigated by the BBC.
The accusations that international criminals involved with people smuggling and child slavery may have been behind the attacks, were made on the Indymedia UK website by readers commenting on a story about the arrest of a young lady on 27 April 2007.

It is not to late to let us know you are coming!

Last year saw 600 people gather in the shadow of Drax Power Station for the ten day Camp For Climate Action. This weekend in Bristol is the next national planning meeting, Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th March. The venue is Barton Hill Settlement which is 5 min from Lawrence Hill Station.
Any questions, suggestions or proposals for the meeting can be sent to gatherings [at] climatecamp.org.uk.

Shortly after midday on Saturday the 3rd Feb, environmental activists defaced a Shell Oil sponsored photo exhibition and called on the Natural History Museum to drop it's greenwashing deal with the oil giant.

While a banner was dropped in the main hall and 600 leaflets handed out to members of the public, an oil like substance was sprayed over the wildlife photos in the Shell sponsored exhibition. There were a large number of security personnel present and some of the protesters were assaulted by panicking museum staff and members of the public but there were no arrests.

The action follows the publication of Shell's 2006 record breaking financial figures and the release of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change fourth report which yet again suggests that climate change is happening faster then previously predicted.

Despite lots of bluff and bluster, police finally left the site today! more support is needed to keep the protest site going!

Almost every Indymedia site in the world is right now publishing the message that the Children's Revolution kids' bloc might be leading the March for Global Climate Justice from the American embassy in Grosvenor Square, London, at 1 pm on 4 November.
Under the heading “Worldwide Children's Revolution to Try to Save the Human Race From Extinction?” the story says that the very existence of future generations may depend on urgent worldwide action to tackle global warming and climate change.

Plans for the Children's Revolution kids' bloc to lead the march for Global Climate Justice in London on 4 November are being considered by environmental activists in Britain.
