Was told after the demo that this had also been a Freedom to Protest action. Which suited quite well, given the amount of harassment given by police to all present, from the start. It feels like the objective is to discourage people from being politically active by simply giving us an unbearable hard time.Picket outside the Japanese embassy.

01-07-2008 13:37
Last night (June 27), three Hong Kong citizen journalists who havebeen registered with the Citizens' Media Center (Sapporo) were
detained by Immigration, and were on the verge of being deported.
This morning, Susan George (ATTAC France) was stopped and questioned
at the airport. Ms George is 74 years old, and her detention
demonstrates a lack of humanity on the part of authorities.

For Freedom of Movement and Freedom To Protest!
On the 5th of July 2008, people all around the world will protest
against the G8 summit 2008 in Japan. Globalisation has created huge
movements of people to the centres of capitalism. However whilst capital
- money and commodities - has been granted ever-expanding
freedom of movement, the movement of workers as migrants is subject to
increasingly complex and brutal systems of control.
We are calling for a protest against the UK Border Agency.
It is time to join forces, for freedom of movement, the freedom to
protest and equal rights for all !

Repression and Revolt in the run up to G8 Japan
19-06-2008 00:06
Over the past week and a half, an unprecedented political crackdown has been enacted in advance of a series of economic summits around the country. Despite this, the brave workers of Kamagasaki stood up against the stiff security environment in riots against the brutal beating of a day laborer over the past five days. The twin situations of repression and revolt deserve to be examined in more detail.Full article | 1 addition | 10 comments
