Anti-War Activists Attack 4 Targets In Edinburgh

Fuck the War Coalition | 13.03.2008 05:02 | Anti-militarism | Iraq | Terror War | World

This is Fuck the War Coalition, and we want to bring the war home to those who profit from imperialism.

This morning we attacked 4 targets around Edinburgh on the 5th anniversary of the start of the war in Iraq.

We attacked the US consulate with paint-bombs and paint stripper; smashed the Army Recruitment office on Shandwick Place; vandalised the corrupt chancellor Alistair Darlings office; and the arms company SELEX had its windows smashed.

We did these actions to draw attention to two recent studies: one that puts the civilian dead as a result of the war in Iraq at a shocking 1.2 million(1), and a poll which shows that the majority of Iraqis believe that the imperialist forces are doing more harm than good, and that they need to withdraw immediately(2).

We also say to those people who are marching in Glasgow this Saturday, that it is not enough to march in the streets and petition our corrupt politicians. The time is long overdue for more direct measures to prevent this bloody war from continuing.

Power to the People,

Fuck the War Coalition

NOTES:

The Fuck the War Coalition has no membership or organisational structure, and operates as a decentralised network of small cells, that have no knowledge of one another. We have claimed responsibility for numerous acts of vandalism against public buildings in Scotland over the last year, including attacks on the offices of MP's who voted for the Iraq war, and the destruction of property at the offices of a company involved in the arms trade. We have never harmed people, only property.

(1) A recent poll commissioned by the BBC shows that 72% of Iraqis believe that the presence of coalition forces are making the security situation in their country worse. An increasing number of Iraqis believe that attacks on coalition forces is justified. The poll undermines argument that there will be a civil war if coalition forces leave is also a falsehood. A clear majority of Iraqis believe that a civil war will not be more likely if we leave Iraq, and many believe that it will be less likely. 98% of Iraqis believe that separation on ethnic lines is a bad thing.  http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/pdfs/10_09_07_iraqpoll.pdf

(2) A shocking number of people have died in Iraq, with an independent polling agency based in London calculating that there have been over 1.2 million violent civilian deaths to date, as a result of the US led occupation.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ORB_survey_of_casualties_of_the_Iraq_War

Yes, but...

But no one ever changed the church by pulling down a steeple
And you'll never change the system by bombing number ten
Systems just aren't made of bricks they're mostly made of people
You may send them into hiding, but they'll be back again
If you don't like the rules they make, refuse to play their game
If you don't want to be a number, don't give them your name
If you don't want to be caught out, refuse to hear their question
Silence is a virtue, use it for your own protection
They'll try to make you play their game, refuse to show your face
If you don't want to be beaten down, refuse to join their race
Be exactly who you want to be, do what you want to do
I am he and she is she but you're the only you

What?

13.03.2008 10:54

Sighting lyrics from an aged punk band is meaningless.

Me

If I'm looking for good music I might listen to Crass, but if I want a sound analysis of the function of pacifism in modern politics I would turn to Ward Churchill.

Pacifism is a psychological disorder. It is also deeply offensive.

Are you crazy?

15.03.2008 16:02

Freeing slaves from salve owners and destroying their property?
Destroying nazi gas chambers in the name of jewish resistance?
Firebombing mailboxes and MPs cars in the name of the suffrajets?
Trashing banks in the name of civil rights?

What has this world come to....Power to the people.
