This morning we attacked 4 targets around Edinburgh on the 5th anniversary of the start of the war in Iraq.
We did these actions to draw attention to two recent studies: one that puts the civilian dead as a result of the war in Iraq at a shocking 1.2 million(1), and a poll which shows that the majority of Iraqis believe that the imperialist forces are doing more harm than good, and that they need to withdraw immediately(2).
We also say to those people who are marching in Glasgow this Saturday, that it is not enough to march in the streets and petition our corrupt politicians. The time is long overdue for more direct measures to prevent this bloody war from continuing.
Power to the People,
Fuck the War Coalition
NOTES:
The Fuck the War Coalition has no membership or organisational structure, and operates as a decentralised network of small cells, that have no knowledge of one another. We have claimed responsibility for numerous acts of vandalism against public buildings in Scotland over the last year, including attacks on the offices of MP's who voted for the Iraq war, and the destruction of property at the offices of a company involved in the arms trade. We have never harmed people, only property.
(1) A recent poll commissioned by the BBC shows that 72% of Iraqis believe that the presence of coalition forces are making the security situation in their country worse. An increasing number of Iraqis believe that attacks on coalition forces is justified. The poll undermines argument that there will be a civil war if coalition forces leave is also a falsehood. A clear majority of Iraqis believe that a civil war will not be more likely if we leave Iraq, and many believe that it will be less likely. 98% of Iraqis believe that separation on ethnic lines is a bad thing. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/pdfs/10_09_07_iraqpoll.pdf
(2) A shocking number of people have died in Iraq, with an independent polling agency based in London calculating that there have been over 1.2 million violent civilian deaths to date, as a result of the US led occupation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ORB_survey_of_casualties_of_the_Iraq_War
