Electronic-Voting and the U.S. & Brazilian Elections

Exit Polls vs. Election Results (Traditional & Electronic)
Exit Polls vs. Election Results (Traditional & Electronic)

The American firm Diebold (under the name Deibold-Procomp), makes 90% of the electronic voting machines used in Brazil.
The same security flaws that exist in the American machines, exist in the Brazilian ones These electronic voting machines can be altered in minutes to throw elections. (see Princeton video re: hacking Diebold electronic voting machines).
Whenever these machines have been used, there is a surprisingly strong showing for conservative candidates regardless of the exit polls (see graphs of traditional and electronic voting “results they compare to the exit polls).
The Associated Press had this to say about Sunday's Brazilian election (using these Diebold electronic voting machines) : "Surprising Brazil election outcome"....."stunning first-round election outcome"...."an unexpectedly strong showing by the center-right".
(google: diebold)
These same Diebold electronic voting machines will be used November 2 to determine whether or not the Republicans retain control of the U.S. congress, and thus: whether or not congress continues to back Bush's policies of war with Iraq (and Iran).

This article is tripe. Could be that people were just embarassed to admit voting republican at the last election in America and the lower than expected vote for Lula in brazil probably had a lot to do with his party being caught on tape trying to buy and incriminating dossier of videos and files about the opposition candidate.

I'm sure I remember the days when indymedia used to be full of interesting, thought provoking if occasionally slightly crazy articles. More and more stuff like this is turning it into a joke.

This article is not "tripe", but rather, your comment is.

Why would voters only in the states using electronic voting machines be the ones embarrassed by voting for Bush (and thus: skew the exit-polls), and not those in the states using traditional machines; there is no logic to that argument.

If you have concerns about E-voting...don't have to take my word for it...check out Princeton University's video, where they hack the machine in less than a minute (to switch votes to the wrong candidate). According to the Princeton researchers, once the machine is "hacked", it then goes on to infect other voting machines (to switch votes to the wrong candidate).

votes rigged

03.10.2006 23:48

The voting machines were pre-programmed to change every fifth vote for Kerry into one for Bush.. Ohio was won by kerry, but he lost it. Florida was a kerry win and so was new mexico. Al Gore also won the election previos but was denied it.

While the Left babbles

04.10.2006 03:21

In less than a month the U.S. elections will be stolen via these electronic voting machines....this is the most important issue facing the world today... Once the Republicans win (steal) the elections, Bush will be free to pursue his agenda of war with Iran, and will lead the world into nuclear war.

Meanwhile, the left babbles on about Israel, anti-semitism, feminism and save the seals.

It's sad....time is running out!
