Around 80 people came to the public meeting today at the Unitarian church hall to discuss how the fight to reduce global warming can be fought aand won.The meeting was organised by the Campaign Against Climate Change and representatives from across the political spectrum took part in the discussion with the exception,it has to be noted, of the Green Party which for reasons as yet to be explained ,did not take up the offer to help organise the meeting and have a speaker on the platform.This was a shame because it was one of the largest and most important meeting on the environment in Swansea for a long time.
The meeting heard from several local activists of the importance of building a large Swansea delegation to the national demonstation in London on the 3rd December and there was a positive and fraternal atmosphere in the hall despite the speakers representing different political parties and traditions .
Well done to those who organised the meeting and to those who spoke so well from the front and the body of the meeting.

It was an orchestrated event, the first speaker from the floor ready primed with a Christian message, was called by name along with two others. The Chair had clearly planned to control the discussion onto imbecilic platitudes..
There was no Earth First! Speaker on the platform, The one who might have spoken from the floor was escorted out when taking issue with the Christian bullshit, blaming Christians for the pollution that is destroying God's Creation of Life on this planet. One Christian called for proof of that assertion, but the EF!er only had time to say "It is in the Bible" as escorted out. There was no chance to point out that the Moslems sat on the Oil for hundreds of years until Christians went along and corrupted the Moslem Leaders with money and political chicanery to set up the conditions on this Earth that fullfill the Biblical requirements for Armageddon - that is where this oil fuelled economy and GM is designed to take us! Christians get impatient for the Resurrection.
There was no mention of the necessity for everyone to have an equal share of the poverty necessary for long term survival of EarthLife. Nor of the benefits from reducing populations.There was no mention of any effective action as heard of the day before in Newcastle when a simple motorway technique used by strikers in Spain was described. Its use in Britain could have stopped Blair's war, and used today could make a small chance that EarthLife might survive the coming extinction event. You can bet your bottom dollar that if such action started, the TUC would do just what they did in 1926 and abandon the battle when it is won, refuse victory and crawl back into the Parliamentary fold. Capitalist Unions will do everything they can to prevent the collapse of the Capitalism traitors and liars are now so eagerly boosting to maintain their fat salaries and rip off economics..
