Arboretum Pub is burnt out by arsonists and listed building lost.

This has been quite a landmark on the Nottingham Scene and is adjacent to the Arboretum Park, the venue for many live music events over the years.

As the government continues to implement its plans for a UK identity card and database, Nottingham Defy-ID is hosting the National Defy-ID Gathering next weekend, Saturday Nov 25th. Sunday was the Global day of action to mark World Food Day. Everywhere, including Nottingham.

On Sunday morning, folks turned out to take part in the Worldwide Day of Action Against McDonalds. Nottingham's contibution to this, took place from 12noon at Exchange Walk in the City Centre.

Most people will have heard about the selling off of a massive area of the NHS to the private 'German' distributor, DHL, who this month are poised to takeover (from NHS Logistics) the warehousing and supply of thousands of items used by NHS hospitals and GP surgeries across the country. What is less widely mentioned in the press, perhaps as it's not as obvious in terms of effect on front-line public sector jobs, is that a massive US procurement operation Novation is also behind the new contract. Brought in to save money we are told, this Texan based company is under investigation by the US justice department for overcharging federal healthcare programmes for goods!

A 17 year old boy was shot in bright daylight yesterday, in the Bridgeway shopping area in the Meadows. After an arguement another youth approached the 17 year old and shot him in the chest.
