The Wind in the Trees

06-11-2011 16:25 | Occupy Everywhere | Anti-militarism | Globalisation | Social Struggles | World

This is a message to the revolutionaries on Tahrir Square from a rainbow warrior in Europe. You might doubt whether there is something useful to say from that position, but so did I before I found myself in the middle of the struggle for the freedom of our hearts and minds. You might also question whether there is anything worth to be squeezed through the prisoner dilemma that is between all of us, but so did we before we took up our last battle against the regimes we had found in our lives. Please take the time to listen to a few words from the deep woods – because as the old poem goes, after the oppressors have spoken the oppressed are going to speak.

Vandalism and the Protesters’ Response at Occupy Oakland (+ PICS)

03-11-2011 10:15 | Occupy Everywhere | Policing | World

Get thousands of people out in protest and you can pretty much guarantee that some of them will cause trouble. This was the case at Occupy Oakland today as some protesters broke the windows of big banks and threw rocks. But, the majority of the protesters seem to have gotten the picture that peaceful protest is the way and have made a point to steer the Occupy Oakland events in the right direction and make sure the acts of a few are not seen as the style of the protest as a whole.

St Pauls used to be ACTUAL stock exchange...

01-11-2011 14:50 | Occupy Everywhere | History | Social Struggles | Workers' Movements | South Coast | World

Whilst reading a book on the english civil war recently, I found an interesting piece that explained the the st pauls cathedral was actually used as the stock exchange in the years immediately prior to the english civil war breaking out. the practice of using the cathedral for this capitalistic venture was eventually stopped by some body or other (cant recall his name) and then the war broke out. with the current protest happening outside st pauls, i believe this information to be very relevant today, especially as the bods that control st pauls now are trying to persist in stating that there actions against the camp are not politically motivated. also, below, is a quote about st pauls taken from wikipedia:

Please help save Occupy London from being destroyed from within

22-10-2011 21:45 | Occupy Everywhere | World

Its important for us all to attract middle England as historically revolutions are only won by attracting the middle classes. If its not correctly reflecting the actual views of the 99% who are still actually quite angry at the banks, then its doomed....This thing has now become over run by idiots, lost in a sea of different people wanting different things from the movement and its destroying it....The truth is no one in their right mind is going to support something that seems on the Occupy London facebook page to predominantly be these Internet drunk lunatics who have spent too much time watching unresearched youtube conspiracy videos....Its a real pity as the organisers and the Campers have worked so hard on this and frozen their asses off out their in the cold and for what so some dick head can sit in the warmth and post crap rubbishing thier cause.. the few nutters always ruin it for the rest of us in the most crucial moments it seems...Occupy London still has a chance....It just needs people to say something to the people ruining it that we have to focus on the simple things first and stop posting things and making protest signs about David Ike and Alex Jones and bloody Zeitgeist talking about taking the blue pill or the illuminate or whatever and just focus on the heavily researched and confirmed basics you guys started with, which was showing our universal anger at bank bailouts and the fact they have so much power over our politicians, the fact corporations own democracy right now and cause all the ills in the world...start the debate how we can modernise the system, maybe the Swedish system is better a more Socialist system or whatever...this has been lost amongst all this reference to home made Youtube videos from some of the occupy supporters.....it pains me to say but its so scaring people off right now - READ THE LINK I FOUND IT JUST ABOUT SUMS IT UP

Occupy Rome October 15 2011

16-10-2011 17:30 | Occupy Everywhere | World

A summary of yesterday’s events would be useless, as I’m pretty sure by now you’ve all read the big headlines about riots and clashes with the police at the “Occupy Rome” demonstration. If you haven’t, a good starting point is this video (in Italian). For some info in English, check Al Jazeera’s reports. (Neither reports are completely unbiased, don’t ask too much…).
