Market Square, Cambridge, full of voices of Common Sense.
"Free Palestine" says the whole world.
Now sadly 1,000 dead - and counting.
At the time of writing this text it is now clear that the Palestininan death toll currently stands at 1,000 and is still rising as more bodies are being pulled from the wreckage of what were once peoples' homes and neighbourhoods, but are now piles of rubble after being hit by Isreali missiles.
If this was happening in London or New York we would be declaring all out war on the aggressors, but because it is in Gaza people (mainly in the media) just wring their hands and blame it on the Palestinians themselves ('they do keep firing those rockets'), which of course is about as skewed and perverse as it gets, completely overlooking that we are talking about a militarily occupied territory.
A territory which has been under military occupation since 1948 when the state of Isreal was decreed into existence under the auspices of a U.N. charter, but in reality Zionist lobbyists from Britain and the U.S. were behind it.
Ever since then more and more Palestinian territory has been nibbled away under the smokescreen of 'resettlement' constructions, to the point where we now have millions of Palestinians crammed into a few fragmented square miles of land, under the constant watchful eyes of the IDF. Economic and cultural activity is impossible under these circumstances, as all movement within these areas is very restricted, with at times even essential medical supplies being denied egress through the IDF controlled checkpoints.
It is in effect an open prison.
Like any enclosure full of caged creatures tensions sporadically flare up as those being detained fight for their freedom by attacking the cage (and cagers) they find themselves trapped within.
Meanwhile money is still pouring in from afar for their jailers to continue funding this state of affairs, and so it goes on... until the plug is pulled!
