TBVerifier.dll error signifies a serious adware problem

Elvin Sterenberg | 18.05.2014 17:06 | Technology | World

RunDLL error popups about a problem starting TBVerifier.dll are being reported by a steadily growing number of Windows users.

The notification is not quite a problem in itself, apart from the obvious annoyance aspect; it’s the respective operating system malfunction that causes the main concern. Insight into this issue reveals an undoubted fact that TBVerifier.dll is a registry component of an adware threat known as Conduit Search.

The above-mentioned virus hijacks web browser settings on the infected PC, replacing such custom values as the user-selected search provider and the homepage with Search.conduit.com web address. The purpose for such activity is to drive traffic to a resource stuffed with ads. Normally, this contamination does not lead to error messages unless the infected user takes some ineffective measures to get rid of this pest or the virus routine becomes misconfigured for some reason. In particular, unsuccessful cleanup attempts may leave some items associated with the adware behind or keep the distorted system state as it was. In the meantime, Windows is still set up to launch a file that’s no longer there. That’s the case with TBVerifier.dll.

The popup occurs every time the OS starts. Besides having to keep closing it off and on, the user is likely to run into adjacent system issues such as crashes or application irresponsiveness. Basically, this means the machine should be thoroughly checked for any file traces of the Conduit Search bug all of which need to be erased completely. Furthermore, some system remediation would be required. Reputable security portals available online provide step-by-step guidance for curing the TBVerifier.dll error popup headache.
