UNEMPLOYMENT FALLS
The UK’s jobless total was 2.43million after tumbling by 88,000 in the three months to April, the sharpest drop since the summer of 2000.
In a further sign that the economy was picking up under the Coalition, just over 100,000 jobs were created over the same period.
TUC general secretary Brendan Barber said: “The significant fall in youth unemployment is encouraging.”
