Remembering Dalal al-Mughrabi, the symbol of Palestinian struggle for liberation

Uprooted Palestinian | 14.03.2011 08:17 | Anti-militarism | Palestine | Social Struggles | World

Dalal al-Mughrabi, a Palestinian fighter who became a legend for many years, led a group of 12 fighters in one of the most talked about attacks against Israeli forces 33 years ago. “

Dalal is still seen by Palestinians and Arabs as a hero and an outstanding fighter. "Dalal will never be forgotten as she will remain an admirable symbol of the Palestinian women’s struggle and an example to be emulated by young Palestinian men and women who will pursue the armed struggle until the liberation of Palestine” says her mother.

Dalal al-Mughrabi, a Palestinian fighter who became a legend for many years, led a group of 12 fighters in one of the most talked about attacks against Israeli forces 33 years ago.

On March 11, 1978, Dalal along with her group of fighters managed to infiltrate the Lebanese-Israeli border to the coastal plain near Tel Aviv using rubber dinghy boats. She and her comrades destroyed the boats the moment they reached the coast. It was a one-way trip, as they had returned home to stay. They hijacked an Israeli military bus and took its passengers, some three dozen soldiers, as hostages after driving the bus along the coastal highway to the colony of Herzliya, where a nine-hour battle took place between them and Israeli forces. The group was killed in the fighting, so were the majority of the Israeli soldiers on the bus.

After killing Dalal al-Mughrabi, Israeli commander Ehud Barak (now Deputy Prime Minister of Israel) unclothed her in front of the cameras, fondled her breasts, stuck the bayonet of his rifle into her body and performed other atrocities on intimate parts of her body.

Dalal al-Mughrabi, the 20-year old woman, who had never seen her homeland until the moment of her death, was born in the refugee camp of Sabra in Lebanon in 1958. After Dalal’s death, her mother said that she preferred that her daughter’s body be buried in Palestine.

Three decades after her death, Dalal is still seen by Palestinians and Arabs as a hero and an outstanding fighter. In a massage she sent shortly before she died, Dalal appealed during the last gasp of her life to Palestinian factions to point their guns to their enemy – Israel, and not to get involved in internal fighting. She inspired thousands of young Palestinian and Lebanese women to follow in her footsteps, such as Sana Muhaidaly, Yvonne Abboud, Wafa Edris, Ayat Al Akhras and Hanadi Jaradat among others.

According to her mother, who was speaking to an Arabic TV channel “Dalal will never be forgotten as she will remain an admirable symbol of the Palestinian women’s struggle and an example to be emulated by young Palestinian men and women who will pursue the armed struggle until the liberation of Palestine.”

Propaganda again and again and again!

"After killing Dalal al-Mughrabi, Israeli commander Ehud Barak (now Deputy Prime Minister of Israel) unclothed her in front of the cameras, fondled her breasts, stuck the bayonet of his rifle into her body and performed other atrocities on intimate parts of her body."

Which was of course all part of keeping the war between the Palestinians and Israelis alive. This was an act of despicable provocation that the Israelis have been exploiting ever since. Reason, the Israelis NEED the conflict to continue because it is this conflict which provides the seed and logic of conquest of Palestine. Without this conflict, the Israelis cannot function as an occupying "authority". This is the reason Ehud Barak found his way into the Israeli Zionist Government. He is talented at provoking the required violence needed by Israel to further its long term agenda.

Now that the middle east is in uproar and calling for democracy, the Israeli state is now confused and very unsure of what to do in a world in which its only tactic has no further use.

Democracy for the Middle East, means the end of the racist, apartheid, extremist Zionist state of Israel and its criminal filth of a sub-human government.

This article is all part of trying to furnish more provocation under which to consolidate its power in the land of Palestine through the use of organised state controlled and funded violence. Violence long supported by the US and UK who have long claimed that they are only acting in defence of Israel, who, of course, are only "fighting for survival".

Peace will kill Israel, stone dead, justice will mop up the mess that is left.

Peace & Justice to you all.

Zionist baiter.

"Zionist baiter" is confused

14.03.2011 17:55

Israel is in permanent conflict because it denies equality to non-Jews.
Describing anyone, even those at the top of the militarist state, as "sub-human" is the language of Zionists and Nazis and is not acceptable anywhere.
All deaths in this conflict are a consequence of the inequality that is central to Statist Zionism.

End Apartheid

Confusion is as confusion does!

Of course Zionism is unequal.

That is the point I was making. Its central ideology is inequality, and this inequality has manifested itself as Government policy. Government policy which magnifies this inequality by manufacturing the conditions under which that inequality can thrive.

So we have the continued maintenance of violence by Zionism in order to consolidate its domestic and international support base. Without this manufactured state of inequality and subsequent legitimisation of the fear of violence, the Zionist state of Israel cannot realise its domestic and international ambitions.

Israel has a vested interest in the continuance of violence in its relations with the Palestinians and seeks out every opportunity to use that state of conflict to demand 'solidarity' from its ideological and financial backers around the world. Backers who feed its economic, business, financial, military and security sectors. Israel is completely dependent on this arrangement.

It is entirely reasonable to describe this policy as sub-human because that is what it is. I would happily describe the rise of the fascists in Germany in 1933, and resultant catastrophe which followed, as sub human for the same reasons.

Look, if one examines recent history of Israel under the yoke of Zionism, that history is defined and characterised by Israel manufacturing conflict through some deliberately offensive action, which usually goes unreported, into a state of open conflict or warfare with the Palestinians, which is massively reported. As soon as this conflict starts and the reporting begins, the Israeli PR machine kicks in and control of that reporting is then used to justify, usually by ommission, that the Palestinians are the cause of the conflict and the Zionists are simply responding to it.

I believe its called "total warfare" and this approach was pioneered by Adolph Hitler in Nazi Germany circa 1939.

Ergo, modern Israel is a by-product of the regime which attempted the destruction of European Jewry during the second World War.

To describe this "policy" as sub human is simply to deny this "policy" as being humanitarian.

two nutshells

14.03.2011 23:00

And there it is, in two nutshells.

1 - there, in a nutshell, is why the Palestinians don't yet have the state they deserve. Every time someone says the suicide bomber is a hero, it convinces yet another Israeli that peace with the Palestinians is not worth pursuing.

2 - there, in a nutshell, is why Indymedia doesn't help the Palestinian cause one bit, celebrating murder and condemning those who condemn it.

Cracking the nuts.

" there, in a nutshell, is why Indymedia doesn't help the Palestinian cause one bit, celebrating murder and condemning those who condemn it."

Indymedia does not publish this garbage, it simply acts as a conduit for those who use it to further their own political agenda by publishing this material.

There in a nutshell is why you don't "get" the open publishing ethos!

Zionist have long used Indymedia to publish celebrations of violence against the state of Israel so it can follow it with morally obscure denunciation of Indymedia in the following comments.

My five year old niece could do better!

How handy to be able to blithely blame everything bad on 'the Zionists' whether or not they had anything to do with it.

unimpressed

Zionists are clinically stupid, FACT!

Yes, it is handy isn't it! Well done you for spotting that!

Now dear, let me get that door for you?
