Linda's 'aid work' had already got her close to the Talib and it was this closeness that Nato tacticians were 'concerned' about.

The Talib were about to release her with video and evidence based accounts of the reality of what the Talib really are and what they are about. A reality that certainly would have again torpedoed the myopic and hate-filled US and coalition 'narrative' that we at home are perpetually subjected to. Linda was on the edge of seriously sinking US public opinion over the occupation.

The rescue mission was designed to kill everybody including Linda.

I think that Linda died in the most appalling circumstances imaginable.

Its just another example of just how pathetic and futile this war has become. The people who are fighting it are completely clueless about what they are doing. The 'media' people who are defending it now appear to be half insane, the internet commentators (do they actually exist or are they ALL soldiers trying to avoid the shame) now come across as lamentable.

This war cannot be won and is just making us the laughing stock of the world. I don't believe there has ever been a time in history when we have ever been more pitiful than we are now.

It is time for a wholesale rejection of those who continue to make excuses, who continue to apologise and who continue to shame and embarrass us all. It is time to reject them en masse and to refuse to engage with them any further. It is now time these people were chained to the beds they have made for themselves.

That is certainly an interesting conspiracy theory - what evidence do you base it on?

And @cunt - I think it is you who is the appropriately-named class traitor. Assuming you aren't just an armchair warrior, you must be pretty gullible to go and be cannon fodder for the politicians and wealthy interests.

Also I think you'll find a lot of science and engineering originated in Islamic and Arabic areas, ironically. Algebra/al-jebr, anyone?

British aid worker had ESCAPED Taliban captors and was in foetal position when elite troops detonated grenade

A British aid worker who died during a botched raid on the compound where she was being held hostage had escaped her captors and was hiding when a U.S. grenade killed her.

Linda Norgrove was cowering in a foetal position when troops detonated the deadly grenade.

Now an elite U.S. commando is facing disciplinary action over the death of the 36-year-old after it emerged he failed to tell his commanding officers he had used a grenade.

American officials initially claimed Miss Norgrove had been killed when one of her Taliban captors detonated a suicide vest.

But after reviewing footage captured on the Navy Seals' helmet cameras the U.S. was forced to apologise for the fatal blunder...

The same evidence that caused the initial claim that the Talib had killed her to be abandoned in favour of the truth.
