Palestinian security forces have detained five Hamas supporters in the occupied West Bank, Palestinian media sources reported on Tuesday.
According to a statement by the Islamic movement Hamas, the detentions were recent and targeted affiliates from Tulkarem, Nablus, and Qalqilia.
Israeli military also detained three Palestinians, in Tulkarem and Nablus areas, the names of which are still unknown.
Also on Tuesday, the Israeli authorities handed over the body of a Palestinian fighter killed by the Israeli military after holding the body for 34 years.
The body of Mashour Talab Aruri, wrapped in Palestinian flag, was taken to the Ramallah Governmental Hospital to confirm his identity, after which he was received by thousands who were waiting at his family house in the town of Birzeit near Ramallah.
Israel is still holding the bodies of dozens of Palestinians who were killed by the Israeli military for unknown reasons.
In 2009, a report by a Swedish reporter accused Israel of stealing organis form Palestinians killed by the military created uproar in Israel.
In the meantime, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Tuesday said he would take full responsibility for Israel's deadly attack on the freedom flotilla on May 31.
Barak said Israeli military had foreseen a potential for violence when it decided to launch the operation.
Testifying before an Israeli investigative committee headed by retired Supreme Court judge Yaakov Turkel, Barak said he accepted full responsibility for the instructions given to the military over its interception of six Gaza-bound eight ships.
Barak's testimony conflicts with testimony of the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamine Netanyahu who said that discussions before the attack focused largely on the likely impact on public relations, while the chance of violent confrontation was mentioned only in passing.
The Turkel committee is seen by Palestinian observers as insufficient which foreshadows an impending United Nations independent probe.
