Stop the English Defence Leaguein Blackpool next week!

The English Defence League are an Islamophobic and racist organisation with links to UKIP, the BNP, Blood and Honour, Combat 18 and the National Front. The EDL have marched on Mosques, pulled off women's hijabs, placed a pigs head on the walls of Dudley Central Mosque and have rioted in Luton, Stoke, Dudely, Bolton...and they intend to go to Blackpool next week and ruin people's holidays. The EDL have made children cry.

The EDL have made children on trains cry while travelling to EDL events. The majority of EDL events end in violent riots. Next week the seaside town of blackpool will be hit by the racist thugs who have been photographed giving Nazi salutes.

Charlene Downes went missing in Blackpool in 2003 and there was a bizarre rumour that she was murdered by the owner of a fast food joint, and her body was minced up and made into kebabs.

But it turned out this was complete bullshit, the main witness was a complete fantasist, the police made major fuckups, and an innocent man, Mohammed Reveshi, spent two and a half years in prison before the prosecution dropped the case:

Even the EDL don't have faith in this demo

The first thing we all have to say is that our hearts go out to the family of Charlene Downes. This was an extremely serious case and the EDL are all the more disgusting for trying to exploit the suffering of this family for political gain. However, the Blackpool demo is being promoted by convicted knife-criminal Jeff Marsh's one-man-and-his-dog outfit "Casuals United" but isn't even mentioned on the official demo calendar of the EDL website, so the fact is even the EDL don't have enough confidence in Marsh's cynical shit-stirring to promote the Blackpool demo as an official EDL event.

As the Daily Star is the ONLY national newspaper ever gullible enough to have given the EDL uncritical coverage, Casuals United are jumping up and down with anger that (not surprisingly) now even the Star have refused to take an interest in this, and CU are encouraging EDL supporters to phone and e-mail The Star to pressure them to participate in this bullshit. CU have said the Combat 18 supporters who made Nazi salutes at their Swansea demo won't be turning up in Blackpool, but that's what CU said when the EDL protested in Cardiff, and Combat 18 and other Nazis (eg - people with tattoos of the Nazi rock band Skrewdriver etc) still turned up in Cardiff. Either way the EDL was formed by known BNP activists, so it's a moot point either way - they're still Fascists. Nonetheless my suggestion is that Anti-Fascists sit this one out as in all probability very few people will turn up anyway, but most importantly because the last thing we need is the EDL circulating photos of Anti-Fascists allegedly "opposing" a demo against an alleged child-killer. Focus on Bradford instead.
