Take back Parliament this Saturday

Alan-a-Dale | 12.05.2010 16:39 | World

A call to all of those who believe in true democracy to call for a change to our unfair electoral system.

There is no doubt that we are living through some extraordinary moments in politics. We need to make sure that changes, and that the next government hears our voice loud and clear.

At 2pm On Saturday 15th May, Parliament Sq will be flooded with purple and the call for fair votes now. We need you to be there.

When we look back on this week in the years to come, don't say you watched this election unfold on TV. Say you decided it yourself. Because that's what will make us a democracy.

Be part of this moment - join us:

Their not my leaders, they are not worth of my protest.

Take back parliament ! Why ?
Who wants a parliament ? Who wants to be governed by some posh twats ? Who ever the rouling class may be, they will always be those born with a silver spoon in their mouth. Goverments always take from the workers in the name of social redistribution, whilst their real aim take an ever increasing cut for themselves. (not to mention the pupet masters whom we never see)

The so called "government" have no moral legitimacy, exept that given to them by the people and anyone can take it back at any time, if they have the self confidence and determination to be indipendent.

The so called "government" have had more than their fair shair of lime light over the past few weeks. So why give them even more by taking our protest to "our leaders".

Their not my leaders they are not worthy of my protest.

Better to just ignor them and their filty agents, the cival service, their gun toting "heros" waging democracy on the world and the policy police. No governance by consent.

Unless of cause you are totally dependent on their front line essencial services for your daily needs.

Good luck pro democracy people:)

I cant speak for the person in the first post but I can definitely say that what the people in power are doing is not in any way democratic. Considering the people who fund their campaigns also control the vast majority of resources in the Country (and this applies to all democracies) and are able to decide what 'choices' to offer the public, It is hardly surprising that the HIstory of 'democratic elections' throughout the world has only ever resulted in the 2 (sometimes 3) same parties winning the elections.

Even though Anarchists have limited to no resources within communities they still try to take advantage of them and make them all inclusive so that whoever wants can take advantage of them and participate in the development of these services. Obviously there is a lot that we can improve on (particularly with regards to our presence in the workplace) and participation, though open to all is nowhere near desired levels, but it is definitely a more 'democratic' as a process than any form of presidential or parliamentary democracy.

The main problem that societies face in my opinion is that we have endured an intense psychological war throughout humanity, which has made us dependent on the power structures that exist and have existed. 300 years ago it may have been Royalty, Nobles and the Church whereas today it is Politicians, and the people we work for in the workplace. This will be the most difficult task to overcome. People need to realise that they can define their collective and individual needs without having people in higher positions dictating this to them.

As for the purple revolution that is being advocated.

fuck it, the tories are back and if we can't get out on the streets for that then there's not much point anymore

theres an anti-tory demo at the same time and rumours of a street party later, plus guerilla gardening in the square, could be a right old giggle
