English Defence League MI5 & Special Branch Ploy? Olympics Emergency Measures?

Nonnie Mouze | 24.03.2010 22:51 | Anti-racism | Repression | Terror War | South Coast | World

There are a number of articles and blogs claiming that the English Defence League [EDL] are a state founded and state funded trap. People from the left and right wing are saying that the something about EDL doesn't add up. Many are saying [probably rightly] that they are a front for MI5 and Special Branch. If that's the case do Muslims, mosques and others have the right to prosecute MI5 for racism?

Are the heads of MI5, Special Branch, NETCU etc behind this? Is tax payers money that could be used to keep people and property safe being mis spent on a state sponsored trap? Are MI5 deliberatly stirring up racial hatred? Are the EDL formed to trap football fans etc before the Olympics? [Possibly]. If this is the case the state will have reason to inflict control orders or emergency measures on sports fans [and working class / underclass areas] before and during the Olympics.

The Elections are due, could this be a ruse by the current government to discredit the British National Party? Are they trying to get the BNP proscribed by creating a uniform wearing, demonstrating, political "BNP" thug outfit?

Are they trying to get Muslim youth to mobilise? Is this a trap to get THEM?
What is clearly unusual about this is that BNP's Chris Renton is a key player but the youth leader Joel Titus is Black and the facebook admins are Black and Asian. Chris Renton is said to organise the internet side of things with them. Why would someone from the BNP [a gold card member] be behind such a group?

The placards used by the EDL all look like they've been done as a joke. The "Gert" placards...Geert Wilders spelled wrongly. The Burka placards which use a picture of a man in a burka. The "serious" website that tells people not to sing the Allah songs etc. Yet there are very articulate, well read and educated people writing about Islam on the website.

Most of the people on the marches are working class lads [mostly men although some women] who are gald to be a part of something "for us". A lot of money has been put into and is being made out of this...for what?

Experienced activists are saying that there is something not right about the EDL. Bloggers have pictures of the riot police taking away Weyman Bennet with the caption : "This is how the EDL deal with lard arse" implying that they think that the EDL are the police or run by the police. If they are the police then the police are running around attacking Muslims and smashing up shops. It has been said before that the head of MI5 has links to David Irving and dodgy oil connections. Could he be behind the EDL attacks? Is he using the EDL to get at Muslims AND the British National Party? Two birds with one stone.
Some claim that they are UAF. Even Nick Griffin has denounced them as a state set up. He could be right. If it turns out that he is right, how mnay EDL are in on it? Something sure is strange about the English Defence League, that much is true and alot of people are saying it. While a lot of groups get accused of this..this is far more apparent with the EDL than with any other group.

Whether they are state or not, one thing is for certain. One of their ranks has done some serious talking in Sheffield. The cops have changed their stance virtually overnight.

will the grass be cut down?

Not sure what's the worse this..or the "Richard Barnbrook Murders".

25.03.2010 01:49

Richard Barnbrook, cop and member of the BNP was suspended for faking murders in an attempt to stir fear.

Anything is possible with the police. They even tried to claim that police infiltrators killed Ian Tomlinson.

So many people are saying this about the EDL that Tintagel House will more than likely be looking into it and "whoever is behind it" before long if they are not already.

hmmm...

well, much as i share many of your background suspicion of the state, there is not any direct evidence that the edl are in any way state sponsored. It's quite likely that police on the ground are more comftable with edl types than us...clearly...their views are in reality closer to the riot cop on the beat that your average anarcho or trot. but this kind of speculative conspiracy theory is, i feel, just a distraction... why would the state invent edl when there was little trouble in terms of street fighting...the state thrives on stability and it ability to keep order (at least at home). The laugahable arrests for conspiracy to commit violent disorder of weyland of uaf and martin of hate racism are clearly a move on the behalf of the police to try to get them stop calling counter-demos...

get real

The state sponsored "strategy of tension"

25.03.2010 13:48

I suspect the EDL are a state sponsored group, it's their support for the current imperial agenda, the wars, the "official" 9/11 story, the "clash of civilizations", etc which initially set off alarm bells for me - the BNP opposed the Iraq war. There have been many indications that the state is supporting the EDL.

Also there is evidence that their "arch rival", ISLAM4ALL, is also a state sponsored group.

This kind of thing isn't new - remember the "strategy of tension" and Gladio:

I don't see however how the London Olympics or UAF play much of a role in this matter.

Remember Gladio

Articles like this make us look a laughing stock.

Could well be true

There's nothing to make anyone a "laughing stock" in the original post. Some state conspiracies are definitely for real, even if, for some reason, those who expose them tend to be branded nutters (until the sheer volume of evidence eventually makes this redundant).
Personally, I don't know if the EDL are state-sponsored or not, but there are certainly a lot of suspicious elements here. They're just so bloody convenient for the state, with their pro-military, pro-Israel politics - the latter is particularly unusual on the 'traditional' far right and also not something you'd imagine a bunch of working class lads would have bothered including in their "patriotic" repertoire.
It's almost as if someone has decided the state needs a "mob" of its own on the streets and they've invented one that would ideally suit their purposes. It reminds me of The Sun and the way that has worked at creating a "working class" self-image that is ignorant, reactionary, anti-union etc. The people who put it together are middle-class career journalists, of course, and in the same way you get the feeling that the EDL is an artificial creation.
It's all just a hunch, of course, but worth bearing in mind.

Whats all this then!

25.03.2010 19:33

But its obvious that the police dress up in plain clothes and throw bottles and bricks at uniform. They've always done this.

I recall being in Parliament Square and seeing three or four plain clothed po(litick)ice gearing uniform up for a fight so they'd be suitably aggressive against anti-war protesters/campaigners/hero's. They've always done this.

Maybe the Government lost the confidence of plod and maybe plod stopped cooperating. Hence the appearance of the English Disarmament Loons. Lets face it if you can't get plod to do your dirty work then your going to have to DIY.

Have fun.

Nothing new

25.03.2010 23:19

If anything the EDL are a kind of modern manifestation of the 'Church and King' mobs that would occasionally coalesce in the 1790s, often with just as much political confusion. Take Birmingham in 1791, where a dinner party of middle-class reformers and religious Dissenters to celebrate the fall of the Bastille on 14th July occasioned three days of riots and attacks on the homes and meeting-houses of the reformers. This occurred with the undoubted complicity of several prominent Tory magistrates and clergy, who directed rioters to the meeting-houses, intervened only half-heartedly, refused to prosecute offenders, etc. 'Church and King' tactics were less successful in terrorising radicals and 'levellers' in London, where in 1795 the crowd was revolutionary in mood (From E.P.Thompson's 'The Making of the English Working Class').

That's not the same as saying the EDL is wholly a covert state operation, but they are - knowingly or not - stooges of the Establishment.
