The EDL have organised protest in British cities, in which they have fought against Asian youth alongside known rascists, and far-right activists. The rise of the EDL has been fast, and seems to be being organised as a kind of army that you need for a war, accordong to the Guardian [1]
There are plans for Rallies in Manchester, and Leeds this weekend by the EDL, and also one in Trafalger Square.
Tthey appear to be using sophisticated methods to rapidly build their organisation, which, at this stage, is said to be fragmented and disorganised.
Asian youth came out on the streets of Britain in the 70´s and 80´`s to get he National Front, the then leading and prominent British Fascist party, off the streets. They suceeded with a little help from left wing friends. It seems they may need a little help from their political friends again.
The BNP have now replaced the NF, but how close the EDL and BNP are remains to be seen. The NF organised strongly in football fan groups, which was countered by anti-racist groups of football fans challenging, sometimes violently, racists.
Are the BNP trying out old tactics used before by the NF again, but keeping the EDL at arms length?
